Speaking of new, am I missing something in my box? It came with two Allen keys, one tiny one and one for the two-piece full-length guide rod. The smaller one is so tiny it won't fit the grip screws so I have no idea what it is actually for. I was also confused because I expected a holster and mag pouch. Though they stopped including those which is fine with me I didn't really care for them. Also Springfield is running a promo until July with any 9mm, 40 or 45 you submit a form and get FOUR free mags, the holster and the mag pouch.

I have a Springfield 1911A1 GI. The tiny "key" is for your gun's internal locking system to make sure your mainspring housing doesn't launch into orbit if/when you decide to monkey with it. Refer to page 13 of the PDF below.

This probably qualifies as kiddie pr0n, but here she is - my fiorst every gun that actually fired a projectile from the barrel. The infamous Spud Gun.

The only reason it is so well preserved is that it was removed by Ma very early in its tenure, and only returned recently when she was cleaning out the house getting ready to move. :)

It actually travelled from the UK to the US about 15 years ago in her desk, where it had obviously been for 39 years. :D

So here, some 54 years later, is the dangerous weapon itself.

Nice, those look like a variety of Jordan's. God knows the M29 is vastly improved with grips that lower the hold. Is there a grip porn thread?
My dad told me tonight he bought those grips from some guy in his home town for his 38/44 smith, which predates the mod 29, but was still an N frame.
My brother has that gun, but I got the grips :-)
My brother also got this 4" 44mags bigger brother, a 6" version .
My dad bought the 4" in 1957, the 6" in 1958. Both bought new.
This is just my opinion, yours may vary and is no less valid.

I'm not sure if it's permissible to write stuff in the gun porn thread.

Let's say I will show Circe my swords, whereby hangs a tale.

By accident of brothers and moving and the general chaos that was 1972, blades and scabbards became separated by hundreds of miles and oceans of philosophy: SoCal vs. NorCal. Through years of letters and phone calls and growing families, the separated bits of kit took back bench to life. Until today. My brother and his wife zipped through my town with a box of goodies for me, and I had a box of goodies for him.

In this box was my Bangsite cannon from back in the day. A bit rusty and needs a new flint, but 100% intact. My wife cringed upon seeing it. Bwahahaha.

What was best for me was the reunion of these three blades with their scabbards.

The top is a 1907 Lithgow bayonet which fits my Enfield No.1 MkIII. Below that is the aluminum handled 1891 Mauser sword bayonet—I had a project for it, but that project is in a better place. I look for a rifle to fit the bayo. And below that is a 1936 Hitler Youth knife that my dad bought at the 1936 Berlin Olympics where he visited with his family when he was 17, so he got to see all that stuff you watch in films, and I got to hear tales. He came home to join the US Navy and successfully defend Boston Harbor from the Nazis. True story, bro.

These blades have been naked all these years schlepping around with me from home to home in a box somewhere until we got this house. Then stuff started coming out of the boxes and I began to miss the scabbards. Now they're together. Here's a detail of some of the markings.

So, I showed Circe my swords and she wants 'em bad. That's what the Bangsite cannon is for, to keep Circe away. So far, perfect.

The Seville sports the most extremely made-over Herrett's I've ever worked on. The thumb side is even more extreme, with a deep thumb rest and fairly sharp, smoothly curved ridge. It takes me an insane amount of time to do a decent job. The SAA has the least re-worked panels, with the thumb shelf lowered slightly but not significantly deepened.

Why the Herrett's? The Shooting Star models are (usually ambidextrous) target type stocks designed to maximize "hang" for the specific frame they are made for, without interfering with holstering.
