Somehow those damn double deckers took over and are all you see. I agree, too much cake, not enough 'mallow.

Any recommendations? http://www.dogfriendly.com/server/trave ... land.shtmlMy folks used to stay quite a bit at the La Quinta - Convention Center. Not the most upscale place, but the location is ideal since you're right by the light rail line with quick access to downtown. I think the rates were pretty reasonable too. McMenamins Kennedy School is a hoot. I have no idea about their rooms, but its a former grade school converted to a restaurant/brew pub. Not quite as centrally located as La Quinta, but if your tastes are more eclectic, I'd recommend it. McMenamins is a local chain of brew pubs with locations in just about every section of town. If your tastes and budget are bit more upscale, The Monaco is pretty swanky, but more affordable than The Nines or The Heathman.

Surely you can at least get a country ham biscuit? I'd die if I didn't have access to a good biscuit. Emphasis on good, because the good ones (Cracker barrel, Hardee's, Mrs. Winners, grandma) are hard to come by

Well, to hell with flying. I'm driving. It will cost more and will be a long haul, but it will be worth it not to be probed in the dirt box by the TSA, getting crammed into coach next to a squalling brat, and having to hope that the weird burning smell is not a fuel leak but the cushion of the seat two rows up melting under the assault of an obese dude's ass, as the White Castle Crave Case he had the nite before begins to percolate in his colon. Have I mentioned that I really hate to fly?

So is this a strictly rent- a- hotel room thing? We aren't on a campground this time, right?

Very very soon there will be a google map that you can access that has several campgrounds listed. You will be able to check out how close they are to the activities. There is also a hostel very very close. So you have inexpensive options.

Portland Currently working out group bookings with a few hotels all within walking distance of the Saturday night venue, and with luck, the Saturday morning venue as well. the comedian wrote: So is this a strictly rent- a- hotel room thing? Working on it...right now, the tent camping selections are very scarce...there are RV parks all over it seems and I am trying to ascertain which of these permit tent camping...

Next year, I say Orlando. I know that locally they have hosted national competitions for steel plate, Titusville had something big as well, and they're getting ready to have the IPSC Nationals down here too.
Plus, we have Disney and Universal for the kiddies.

Alright. So it's a little warm. However, we have crazy concealed carry reciprocity laws, tons of places to shoot, we'll let you hunt gator and boar, plus all the other random stuff that makes us alright.
But yeah. August would be pretty damn hot.

But yeah. August would be pretty damn hot. You forgot to mention Hurricane season. I will go to Orlando again. In December or something. I have friends there.

My poor spouse. She would have to attend conferences annually to maintain her certifications and such and every year they were held in Orlando or Atlanta...except one. One year it was Chicago and oh how she was looking forward to an opportunity to visit the Chicago Art Institute and museums and all that wonderful stuff.
The morning she was to leave, she was so happy...then she turned on the news just in time to see the second plane hit the World Trade Center.
The next year it was back to Atlanta. She never wants to see either again.

Don't get me wrong, I was born in Clearwater, love the state and still have kin down there, but 20+ years of living in Minnesota has definitely turned me off to visiting during Summer months. Unless you Southrons promise to hold the 2014 LGC meeting near Duluth. In January.
