New podcast idea: "The Liberal's Gun Corner"

1
I've been speaking with a fellow named Mark Vanderberg over at the Gun Rights Radio Network. He asked me to do a sample "first episode", and I chose the name, "The Liberal's Gun Corner" for it.

This is in reference to the below thread.

The audio lives here.

If some of you have some time and would consider giving it a listen and give us feedback, that would help. I already know I need a better microphone, and that will be getting purchased soon.

Thanks,

- T

Just remember that you are expressing your personal views, not that of liberals. You are NOT the anointed voice and authority on liberalism, you are self-declared, and speaking under the auspices of someone that clearly doesn't respect liberal beliefs.

You biggest mistake so far is claiming that "in order to call yourself a liberal, you need to support the 2nd amendment." Oh really?

This is why I disagree with the whole concept of the podcast, since it claims to speak for a group of individuals, yet the group of individuals never elected their so-called spokesman, and have no input about what he says.

Just for the above reasons I give the podcast a thumbs-down.

Before you get too wrapped up, google Classic Liberal for more insight.

In my opinion, Liberalism is tied more strongly to the concept of civil rights than the Neoliberalism of today.

Ever since I was a Boy Scout and got my Citizenship in the Nation merit badge, I have understood the difference between a right and a privilege and the difference between a collective right and an individual right. It is everyones' individual right to protect themselves and their family. It is also an individual right to possess firearms and their ability to be used for defense.

Would it be a great world if firearms were not needed for defense? Yes. Do we live in that world? No. Is it ever going to be possible to get to that point? Perhaps but having studied social history I am doubtful we will ever evolve to that state. Homo sapiens sapiens still enjoys loud noises and light, celebrations proove that point. Also, the strong will be tempted to over run the weak and the weak will band together for the common good. This last point does not lead to deescalation.

Liberty is neither the easy path nor is it pretty.

CowboyT, I liked it.

Just one thing: at the very beginning, the whole "there are liberal gun owners" thing was delivered in a way which... hmm... gives the impression that you are talking to idiots. It hurts the message.

Keep it up!

I heard it as a verbal version of 'smile and nod'.

This reminds me, I still need to add "Armed Liberal" to the back of the shirt that I plan on wearing to the Gun & Knife show on the 21st.

Hmm... I take the "smile and nod" strategy as a way to deal with idiots or crazy people.

Individual: :w00t: "After I read the Dragonlore book last year, I discovered that I'm really a dragon trapped in human form."

Me:  ... [and look for an excuse to escape this individual.]

Well, often it comes out as "smirk and nod" more than "smile and nod."

Thanks for letting me know that. It was intended in the way of, "surprise, we're here!" to those who consider liberalism and a pro-2A stance mutually exclusive, but I guess I can see how someone might interpret it another way.

All feedback is welcome, and I appreciate it.
