Re: Blog post 9/15
2Holy shit! I had no idea.Seems the very same prosecutor, the one who refused Ms. Allen’s request for a deferred prosecution, agreed to probation and a deferred prosecution in another case. Namely, Ray Rice, the Baltimore Ravens running back who beat his then-fiancee unconscious in a casino elevator in February.
Time to fire that prosecutor . What an asshole.
Great post!

5Great job SmokeFan. Your best yet!
Seems like New Jersey is sending a message to women. If attacked we will let your attacker off lightly and don't even think about using a gun to protect yourself.

6The state motto of New Jersey is "Liberty and Prosperity" and the state seal feature two women.
Maybe they should change the seal to have pictures of Chris Brown and Ike Turner and their motto could be "Get back in the damn house!"

7Nice. If this is what the end looks like, I'm cool with the FSM, so let the apocalypse begin! Great write up.
And SG, definitely yes to the PR. Particularly since we have a strange consensus of sorts from 3 players! This shit is..... Wow.

8I'll take the lead from FS for language. A good background on each case would be helpful for any press follow-ups.

Or were you looking for something else?I'm gonna get right with the FSM over lunch. This shit is crazy.
The world must be coming to an end or some similar absurdity because there is no other explanation for their sudden acknowledgement of the factual situation that has been unchanged for years. Our long-time criticism of the gun control movement is that its claimed goals and its actions have been wildly out of synch. Observable data on murder rates, gun use in murder, and gun ownership has not taken a sudden turn. We are as curious as anyone as to why arguments that we, and others, have been advancing for years are suddenly convincing to an organization known for playing fast and loose with facts and generally more interested in painting their opponents as unreasonable than they are in policy analysis based on facts.
Re: Blog post 9/15
10I was talking about LGOA going after the NJ prosecutor. You would have an opportunity to pick-up press given the NFL's inability to effectively address their domestic abuse issues.
Re: Blog post 9/15
11I like that idea. FWIW, the NFL's DV problem is the cover story on the current issue of Sports Illustrated. And ESPN has been nattering about it (if you didn't see Monday Night Football last week, it was THE STORY). It's definitely a hot topic. Especially now that Adrian Peterson has been arrested on child abuse charges.senorgrand wrote:I was talking about LGOA going after the NJ prosecutor. ETA: Somewhere (The Nation?) there was a writeup on how CBS had to revamp its pregame show for last Thursday's game involving the Ravens. They were going to show a Rihanna video, but... seeing as she's kind of the poster child for DV survivors... ETA Google is my friend. http://www.thenation.com/blog/181593/ho ... transcript
Re: Blog post 9/15
12Thanks SF. Sports announcer James Brown said what needed to be said in that piece. The NFL would be wise to actually listen to one of the guys who's job is to provide the narrative of their sport.

13Dang! That was a bang up blog post, Smoke. Really most excellent.
It may be sign of the apocalypse that a group called the Liberal Gun Club posts that semi auto rifles capable of accepting a detachable magazine should remain legal, and that root cause mitigation clearly addresses a major component of the troubles we see out there in America. Rockin' sockin'!
Exposing the hapless prosecutor in the Rice case: Sweet.

14Can someone post links to news stories confirming the identity of the prosecutor in both cases. I'll need that for press pitches.
Also a good story on both that summarizes each case.
I'll try and work on something later this week.

15There should be a couple links in the blog post. Also google "shaneen allen ray rice". I'm at a conference and hostage to slow hotel WiFi so I'm afraid I'm not much help right now.senorgrand wrote:Can someone post links to news stories confirming the identity of the prosecutor in both cases. 16Regulating long arm sales like pistols/handguns is BS. It should be the other way around, non-prohibs can go to any state and buy a new firearm locally from a dealer. Then again, it is adding more fuel to getting my FFL01.
