-Red State Voters Like Democratic Ideas Much More Than Democratic Candidates-

I hope all of the old line Dems are reading this and are prepared to get out of the way for the new progressive "Dems".
for example, in Mo., the min. wage passed, medical marijuana passed, old party hack McCaskill lost.
I hope on a national level the Dems can move past the old farts like Pelosi and get on with some government for the people.

Not sure Joe but I think that the old line dems you are refering to are actually the new dems, they even call themselves that. The new progressive dems are just trying to go where the democratic party used to be. The old dems were an impediment to accumulating corporate donations since being anti war and pro working class, civil rights and a clean environment were unprofitable to wall street.

This. I'm an old new Dem. Get the corporate wing off of public assistance and out of the way!

Pretty much.

Give me a social progressive, staunch environmentalist that believes in the value of health care, public education, infrastructure, diversity of thought and cultures and understands that guns are not a second class right and I'll jump to that party. Until then... I'll keep plugging my nose.

Pelosi is going to swamp the gop for the next 2 years with bi-partisan compromise. She will fight thooth and nail to preserve the aca and save us from medicare for all. She will preserve the war on drugs to protect all of the privately owned prison jobs, and make sure we don't adopt any left leaning economic stands to save us from socialism.

Should be a real interesting 2 years.

You forgot gun control.

Measures including expanded background checks and a ban on assault-style weapons are likely to reach the House floor when Democrats retake control after eight years of Republican rule.

“The American people deserve real action to end the daily epidemic of gun violence that is stealing the lives of our children on campuses, in places of worship and on our streets,” said Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California, the Democratic leader who is running for a second stint as House speaker.

Anything Pelosi wants to become law has to get the stamp of approval of a Republican Senate and a Republican WH. Reality is she'll probably accomplish very little legislatively, but like Ryan before her she'll be battling the various wings of her party. House investigations better find smoking guns on Trump and his cronies with indisputable evidence or they'll become the joke of right wing media. Health care resonated with voters but I agree they need more ideas especially ones that appeal to red state voters. In 2020 Republicans have more Senate seats up for re-election and with the right issues Republican incumbents could be vulnerable.
