Redfield 3X9 questions

1
I am buying a Redfield 3X9 for my .45-70 to replace the one that has been transplanted to my Mosin camo target rifle.

My question is about whether the scope can handle the recoil of this round.

Anyone have any experience using this scope on a howitzer? The reviews are glowing, but none says they've mounted it on this kind of cannon.

I'm chasing the lower magnification because I know I won't be shooting this rifle past 200 meters. Likely only 150m, so I put the much higher magnification on the 7.62x54r rifle whose ballistics do not require shimming the scope for long range as opposed to short range.

Curious. Anyone?

One load I've developed for this rifle is a 350gr RNSP over 51 gr of 3031, which gives me about 1730 fps. Another is a 300gr RNFP gas checked cast boolit over 52 gr H4895, for 1850 fps. I also shot 20 rounds of commercial 350 grainers which felt quite a bit milder than these two. I'm making some more rounds now, as I just ordered a .457 sizing die for some cast boolits that got munched by rats. So I have a few range trips in my head, but whether the time will open up is another thing. It's a nice rifle to shoot, though.

Forgot to mention. Another hunter I know has had a Revolution 3-9x40 on top of his Marlin .45-70 stainless levergun for a few years now. He shoots warm loads appropriate for the strength of that gun's action. Takes deer with it every year and reports fine results with the chosen scope.

Hopefully things are going just as well for you.

They are, thanks. This scope was on some Mosins for many hundreds of rounds, then on the .45-70. I'm loading some up now for it and will put up a report once I go--next few weeks are busy for me. But I'll get back to leisure of a kind, after that.
