anyone else own gas masks? i used to live 15 minutes from tapco, back when they actually sold milsurp, and bought a pair of new-in-wrap israeli masks with spare filters in 1999, shortly before civilization was supposed to collapse. they've sat in the closet all these years, except the one halloween i wore one to greet kids at the door. couple of them chickened out, too spooked to approach the candy dish
i wonder what the shelf life is on factory sealed filters?
Re: jsut out of curiosity,
2Depends on who you believe. I have read multiple times in different places. If the vacuum seal is good and they've been stored properly, I'd go with 15 years. I'd also have a bottle of banana oil handy. If you can smell banana then your seal or filter is bad.

4Up until recently, I had one proudly displayed in the bathroom next to the "No dumping allowed" sign until my new wife took them both down one day
Being military surplus, I would think the shelf life on the filters would be long. 15 years though, I don't know.
