What paper targets do you guys use?

1
I've changed overtime in which paper targets I use when I go to the range.

When I first started shooting, I used printed targets that I stapled/taped to cardboard or on top of the huge paper target provided at the range. This was good until I noticed it was very hard to see where my shots landed on white paper.

I then progressed to those reactive paper targets like shoot-n-see. The problem was they were not that cheap. A standard 4-6" target came in at the cheapest at around 20-25 cents per target if I got it on sale. A larger 5-bullseye spotting target for the rifle range was even more expensive. But they were very convenient to use and easy to see where the shots landed.

As I have gotten more accurate and my groups started shrinking it was hard to justify a 6" target especially if I tended to be within 3", so I moved to just the 3" target spots. These weren't reactive, but they were fluorescent so it was still easy to see any bullet holes. These rang in about 10-15 cents per target, which was an improvement over the reactive target.

These days I've moved onto color spots from instocklabels.com (http://instocklabels.com/inc/sdetail/fl ... /213/70662) . These don't have any target lines or a center dot, though I suppose if I wanted to I could buy half inch dots and paste them on, or just draw a dot with a sharpie. But its' ok, I can live without the center dot. For practice doing dot torture, these are perfect. They come in really cheap at about 5 cents a target, even after shipping.

Anyways, so what do you guys use? Anything even better deal-wise than the color spots?

Sinclair sells rubber stamps of 100 yard and 200 yard benchrest targets
I have a bunch of 1-and-a-half-inch orange target spots with a cross-hair and dot on them. Fine once you're sighted in. Reactive until then :)

That said - if i'm shooting for groups I prefer a black ring so I CAN'T see the strikes. Nothing more off-putting than realising you're sub-consciously aiming at the last shot you fired....

Will have to check out Sinclair's stamps - thanks!

If I'm shooting 22lr, I use the small Dirty Bird targets. If I'm shooting 9mm or 45 at 15y or less, I usually just take a shoot-n-see dot and place it on a blank piece of paper. I also have some medium Dirty Birds I use for rifle or shooting pistol at 25 yards.

I like shooting to be as enjoyable as possible. Squinting to save a few pennies really ruins it for me. :)

I draw my own silhouettes on the back of old architectural plan sheets for "Mozambique" drill with pistol. Trace over one I like with a black sharpie. A 4" dia. jar lid traced for the head circle.

For more deliberate aimed shooting: 2" x 2" squares cut from cheap colored paper, attached with a glue stick. I use a big bladed paper cutter, so it's easy to make a bunch at a time.

I'm cheap. I take a wide marks alot and just slap a # on paper. this is good for handgun distances and gives me 9 blocks to go at.

For the rifles at 50 yards I put a piece of blue painters tape down the middle of a paper.

I can't see investing too much in paper. If I was dialing in some special long-range whatnot I might go for the large graph.

I just print them out, until recently on regular paper, but just got a ream of vellum instead: $8 for 250 sheets. For rifle I print the 1" square grids for sighting in, for handgun whatever strikes my fancy. I've also got some of the 2" stickers. I like the shoot and sees, but apparently not enough to buy them regularly.

Bookmarked that page, too. My wife and I love to go to the western slope...Montrose, Hotchkiss, Ouray, Silverton, Durango, Paonia. It's beautiful...and a lot greener...over there.
I can totally understand, I was born in Durango, grew up in Rico, My Aunt & Uncle had a Chevy Dealership in Delta & Hotchkiss, and lived in Paonia before they moved to Hotchkiss... .....
