Whitey has the patience of a saint.

Finally, finally.....I've finished an R&D project for Whitey.....pictures to follow as soon as I can find my real camera (it's packed in a box somewhere. I hate moving!) but I think it's the coolest piece of artwork I've ever done.

I say 'R&D' because I chased my tail on it for months trying to learn how to apply and finish urethane. I have a new found respect to folks who finish shotgun stocks or fine furniture/wood. I don't know why more of them don't kill themselves in frustration.

Anyway, stand by.
I don't like to think of my self as an artist so much as someone who stares at empty spaces and imagines s--t.

The house I made an offer on has an extra large, heated garage. So assuming they accept the offer I have PRIMO WORKSPACE. Which means I can get back in the game.

I'm still officially beta testing clearcoats. They are a lot harder than I suspected. I may ditch urethane and try acrylic.

Truth. In my teens I worked with a guy who made fine furniture using exotic hard woods. I spent many an hour polishing the surfaces to near mirror finish. Starting at 80 grit, there would be an application of tung oil and a sanding in increments up to 2,000 grit. The results are impressive. That said, I'm not sure if it would work over a painted surface.

Edited to add: There was a short curing process between application of each coat and the sanding which followed. Can't remember off hand how long it was tough.
