Well. Learned something today in working up loads for the Garand. I had thought that the accuracy issues I was having was just me, and hadn't to this point, used a good rest and graph paper. Stupid. Today, to see how my M2 Ball duplicate load was working, I put the rifle on the front rest and shot it at 25 yards. (1" black square, simulates 4" as 100 yards) It shot a nice little ragged hole.
Way off to the right.
Which is where I had been putting them at 100 yards previously myself. Whoops. Made the adjustments, and with the exceptions of the flier, right on the money. Anyway, when doing my part, the rifle does very well. The 48gr of 4064 and 147gr bullet is definitely the right combo for this rifle.
Re: Never assume anything
2I learned long ago to include me on the check list of potential issues when things aren't quite right.
Puffing up is no substitute for smarts but it's a common home remedy

3I'm such a bad shot, the list is:
1) has the sight fallen off?
2) must be me

4When I figure that stuff out from time to time, I like that feeling. Some things I forget, though, if I don't do them enough--like with a rifle or scope I've not shot for a while.
