Anyone else planning on standing in the cold to get at least $5 in Cabela's gift cards and potentially an A5 rifle or electric smoker? I'll be there to get a $199 birch 10/22.

Only scored the $5 gift card, but had purchased a $25 last week to cover this trip.

Got a BSA RD30CP red dot sight and a coke and got back $2. Already have the scope mounted on the AR pistol with blue lok-tite on the threads and the dot looks fine on all settings from 1 to 11.

I thought about going just for the chance at the Browning rifle, but didn't make it. What time did you get in line?

12:10 am and was in the 500's.

Sounds like Dick's may be where I go next year, I know two of the three folks who got the rifles there.

If I had been smarter, I would have picked up 2-3 of the $159 bulk packs of 5.56 and sold them off today @ the Machinist's Hall gun show...

Thanks for the info! That's more patience than I have. A guaranteed Browning rifle, yes. Otherwise, I'm far too cranky to wait that long.

Do you have the Cabela's app on your phone? Their app sent out a 10% coupon to use once you checked in with the app at the store. Almost tempted me to go today, but I ended up at Bass Pro instead.

Close to a thousand folks didn't even get that for waiting that long. I'd picked up a $25 card earlier in November so I didn't have to have cash on me.

I was dressed for the weather, wore good boots and didn't drink anything while I was there so I feel it went fine. Chatted with folks around me, watched some Hulu, listened to some pod casts. Most importantly I didn't get sick.

Cabela's is ridiculous. Went to the mega-store in Dundee, MI on Black Sunday to get the $199 Ruger 10/22 and a $360 Sig; they were out of the Rugers and I liked the $390 Colt Gold Cup better; total time in lines (separate line for the gun counter, another line for paperwork and $$$ exchange) was about 45 minutes.

Then I went back yesterday - a Saturday, a week after the sale madness - to pick up the 10/22 that'd come in for me. Total wait time was OVER TWO HOURS. Their staplers broke; their printer ran out of toner; their clerks all got on the phone to do background checks at the same time, and froze like a bunch of mannequins with phones in their hands. The torture never stopped.

I can walk to the Dunham's that's around the corner from my house, pick out a rifle, do the paperwork, fork over the cash, and be home all within 25 minutes. But -- the Dunham's stores around here don't carry Ruger. WTF!
