Time for an official LGC Seattle/Puget Sound Area group?

#1 Post by TinkerPearce » Sat May 13, 2017 1:50 am

I'm thinking maybe so... How does one go about that, and who's in?

If you PM inquisitor or shinzen they should be able to get you started with the process of forming a chapter.

I'm out here in Kitsap County, but I'd love to join! Speaking of which... I still need to pay my dues to the LGC. I think I'll go do that now.

Well, we need at least five paying members- I'm paid up. Four more and I'll contact Shinzen and get things rolling.

There are generally a number of members who are paying members, but may never log into the forum. We've found that an email blast to the locals is pretty effective depending on the city/state. If you want to draft something and send it over to me I can get it out to the locals for you to let them know of your intent. (Also a good way to get attendance up for range events and the like). Once y'all have picked out some reps, we can get one of them to have access to the membership database to send out those emails yourselves.

Definitely time

I'm in Seattle and gave up on guns for four years when i moved here because I didn't find anyone to shoot with or even talk guns with. Now I have some people who I might actually get to go with me for my first hunt.

I've already paid my membership so how many do we need?

The tough part is, getting around the Tacoma-Seattle-Everett corridor screws up participation in all kinds of organizations.

I remember freeways in that area. I don't remember them fondly.

The 167/405 junction area was mildly annoying at noon today. But I had just left Champion Arms after 100 minutes of blasting and wasn't on a tight schedule, so I was happier about sclerotic driving than usual!

And count me in. REALLY need to check this subforum more often!

We had a meeting in Bothell but failed to have a quorum. Two of the members did a fair amount of driving from Tacoma and Olympia(!) to get there. We'll keep plugging at it.

Man, you guys used to have a bunch of paid members there, rivaling TX. Might need to shake the tress a bit?

Next meetin is 19 May 2018 location TBD but we are aiming for Tacoma-ish in deference to our peeps who live down that way. I figure in June we will find something Northerly. One of the fellas who showed up made a suggestion that I really liked. There are spots where if you get there early enough you can pretty much rule the roost and set up your own shooting bay. I see no reason why this cannot combined with some picnic BBQ prep to make for an awesome day event. I just don't have enough familiarity with such spots to knowledgeably follow up.

I-5 Northbound in downtown Seattle is going to be completely closed on 5/19 (and the first weekend in June), which presumably means I-405 will also be nasty. They're not making this easy for us!
