As stated in this previous topic http://www.theliberalgunclub.com/phpBB3 ... =6&t=24429 I managed to get more pics of the only rifle I'm interested. If anybody can help with an estimated value it would be appreciated.

2Nothing to add other than you should buy it if he's reasonable on price! Does he have a price in mind already or just waiting for you to make an offer?
Re: Some much needed help! pic heavy
3It's a Snider Enfield, but I don't know from the pics if its rifle or carbine.
Is the bore as bad as the inside of the breech for rust? If so, it's a $100 or $150 wall decoration IMO.
Others might feel different.

4The bore, it's rusty but smooth. I figured it may clean up well. Rifle I guess, all depends on barrel length correct? He's waiting for me to give him a price, he's as clueless as I am on these.

5You don't plan on shooting it I hope? The Snider was a conversion rifle invented by an American and adopted by the Brits. They made them by converting old P53 muzzle loaders.

6No plans to shoot it. I was looking at buying it if it had any historical significance. If not, I'll tell him to sell it as a wall hanger along with the other guns in the bunch.

7I'd buy it.
Hell, I'd be generous and give him $200 since he is a friend.
It's the rifle the Brits had when we had the trapdoor Springfield. I think they're pretty cool.

8Should I buy that Belgian Flowery as part of a package? He wants me to take everything but the other 3 are just horrible and not even fit to hang on a wall.

Re: Some much needed help! pic heavy
9I have my doubts that a 1867 snider has a lot of collectable value unless it can be certified by a real gunsmith as a reliable and safe shooter. Just a gut feeling on my part. The trap door spingfield started out as a conversion of the springfield muzzle loader but was in continuous service till the Krag, the snider was in service for only a couple of years and replaced by the Martini in 1871. Some of the colonies may have used them longer I don't know. Your pics are small can you identify any of the proof marks?

10Whitey, people have paid significantly more for paintings created by elephants...and I will shamelessly admit prints of mine too.

12Here is a gun collecting sight that has a page devoted to all the counterfeit guns being sold to the GIs in trashcanistan. If you scroll down it has what they consider to be a real Snider. Its value is about 200 at the most. http://www.armscollectors.com/darra/afghanold.htm
