2F or 3F?

1
I got lucky and found some 2F Goex locally for $15 a pound. Normally, I'd be paying about $23 a pound locally for the same stuff. I only grabbed 5 lbs of it because I knew it would be good out of my .75 cal musket. But I also like making 38 specials and 45 colt black powder rounds.

Any thoughts on using 2F for these? If it's good to go, I might want to grab the other 5 lbs he has at that price.

I'm going to buy another 5 lbs of 2f. That should last a while.

here's how i heard it:
1f cannons
2f rifles
3f pistols
4f priming
but there's some wiggle room, 3f works fine in rifles. 2f would burn slower because the grains are larger. i wouldn't expect it to be a problem in pistols. i suppose a chronograph would tell for certain.
i'm retired. what's your excuse?

I'm all warm and fuzzy looking over at my newly acquired 11 lbs of black powder...mmm.
However, it's all 2f. I made some 38 specials with it, using pretty tight compression and magnum primers. At a minimum, I expect it to go bang. Beyond that....it's anybody's guess.
