Royland Southgate rifle.

For those of you who have a copy of the Dixie GunWorks Catalog in the back among the information pages is a short history of Royland Southgate.
He made about 1000 guns all hand built ,before the replica craze of the 60's and beyond.
Anyway here is #86. It was made in 1950.
Lock , Stock and barrel by Royland Southgate. The only store bought item is the nipple which is from a Colt Revolver.
.38 caliber , full maple stock , brass furniture.
My load is 40 grains of 2F , a .10 patch and a .375 round ball.
Thanks for looking.
It will be a series of pics ... here is the lock

You don't see a Horse head patch box to often.
A few makers used them back in the 1800's but not many.

LOL! I thought it was a bird! With the long end things coming out emulating tail feathers. It took me a minute to find the horse head. :roflmao:
