Sad but they need to move as many as possible to zoos to save the species.
Unfortunately they may not make it on the continent of Africa whether there is poaching or not. So many parts of Africa is unable to support it own populations and the continent has been maintained as a play ground for the wealthy first worlders and their agriculture has been dessert and beverage for,,,, drum roll please wealthy first worlders.

They spent $73 million here to build an African grassland exhibit and an Elephant building. http://www.omahazoo.com/exhibits/african-grasslands/

They'll get 6 elephants from Africa soon.

It's sad, but they're disappearing quickly enough from the wild that you have to do something. The zoo here is one of the best in the country and has worked for decades at developing exhibits that are natural and not just animals in cages. Remodeling the big cat exhibits are next on the list after getting elephants back.

They also have a much larger area out west that houses the herd animals and predators. http://www.wildlifesafaripark.com/
