Greetings from NorCal. (new member)

Hi to all.

Introducing myself as a new member.

Hail from East Bay (Nor Cal)

Handle: Rosebud22. Think Citizen Kane meets .22LR

Political affiliation: “ none of the above”

Caliber of choice: .22LR and .17HMR (rimfire nut)

Preferred gun of choice: Bolt action rifle, but also like semi auto pistols and
10/22 (everyone needs at least one 10/22)

Cheap thrills: Punching paper, killing tin cans.

Short term goal: defeat SB53 “Ammo Purchasing Restriction”

If this passes, I am screwed. It is already almost impossible to buy ammo in
Alameda County. I buy on-line. If passed I will have to move out of CA or
stop shooting. Neither option very appealing

Question of the day: How do I access the NorCal sub forum?

I have given up on .22lr at .25/round and now handload 40S&W and .223 for around .16/round.

I use the .22s now for my kids to shoot until they are ready for centerfire.

Will definitely still keep the .22lr revolver and bolt gun, the autoloaders probably not.

It might be too late in the season for fire risk, but there is a plinking area at Boggs mountain demonstration forest up in lake county.

Enjoy the forum!

Welcome, from the south west bay.

I don't know about Reno, but if you go towards the Portland direction, it's easy to find .22. You don't even have to go all the way to Portland, it is available in Medford (just 20 miles into Oregon). They have Walmart, several sporting good stores, and BiMart. BiMart is membership only (I don't know whether they check your driver's license, or whether you can become a member as a California resident), and their sales are the cheapest ammo on the west coast. If you go another two hours north, their is a Cabelas near Eugene.

Also, you don't go to Oregon for one brick of .22. You go for a pickup truck full of ammo, which lasts you several years. There is a reason I own a pickup truck that has a 1-ton cargo capacity.
