I live with a WV hillbilly, she knows more about what you can eat walking around outside than I ever will. I know enough that I can eat Dandelion greens and every old farmhouse around here has something interesting to eat, frequently asparagus. And there's a huge number of apple orchards both active and abandoned in the area. I live next to Lake Erie, which is getting record Walleye catches for the last 10 years, and there's streams and wetlands surrounding us I can't imagine there isn't a lot of edibility in there. Hell the stupid Canada Geese population around here could keep us fed, just head down to the golf course.

While you're at it, pickup a copy of the SAS survival guide- some good information in there including edible plants. Everyone should own a copy in my opinion.

I second the wild goose population- could keep us going for quite some time down here in D-town. And squirrels. Them's some good eating!
