We are gun people. It may come to pass that we need to defend our lives, but we may also need to render aid.
I'm thinking of a trauma kit. Something to treat wounds. I remember some of my first aid training from the army and I can learn more.
Should I consider building one or buy a pre-packaged?
Re: Trauma kit
2Either way get training. Tourniquets can be tricky.
Buying prepackaged might be a good start. I have some links to stuff but on my phone.

3Rapid Application Tourniquet (RAT) - small, easy to use and cheap:

4Saw these on another sight yesterday. The pocket EDC might be handy. About 65 bucks

Re: Trauma kit
5You want a tourniquet (and you want a couple, one for practice and one that sits in the kit, and some of them are crap, trying to find the link to the one that doesn't suck) and something like an Israeli bandage

Maybe some quickclot.
See if your range does a trauma class. Using this stuff is a little more complicated than basic boy scout first aid.

Re: Trauma kit
6At the suggestion, I've started looking at classes in first aid. YMCA, Red Cross, etc.

7When our son was born I saw the need to get all organized in the first aid dept. I was the first one who needed the handy kit when I had my leg cut wide open by a falling light fixture.
It makes sense to have a collection in a known spot. Be sure to check it for out of date goodies now and then.

Puffing up is no substitute for smarts but it's a common home remedy

8I carry quick clot in my range bag and a fairly well-stocked first aid kit in my truck. I did rd cross training for ski patrol decades ago. I should probably refresh myself.
