Depends on what you want. In the .338 Win Mag I had, 225 gr bullets did what I wanted the rifle to do (knock down antelope out to 300m). If you want to shoot 1300 yards or more, go for the 300s and push them as fast as you safely can while keeping accuracy sub-moa and consistent. 250s would be best used out to around 800 or closer. Past that, anything using heavy for caliber, high B.C. bullets will probably out shoot it still.
All problems can be solved with a copious amount of high explosives.
