.32 load data for Leigh Defense bullet.

Hello .32 fans.

I was clicking around, and came across this info on the product page for the Leigh defense .311 50 gr Extreme Cavitator bullet. This bullet was designed with .32 ACP in mind, but some of us .32 revolver fans are also interested in this bullet. Since I'd like to use my .32 H&R as a sidearm for the occasional shot at a squirrel, and I need to carry non-lead, this bullet is literally the only option.

It outlines loading this bullet in .32 H&R and .327 Federal magnum.

I'm looking forward to loading some rounds and doing some chrono work to see how fast they are. One reviewer mentioned 2200 FPS out of a SP-101 with a 4.2" barrel in .327 federal :!:

Here are Leigh Defense's recommendations:
Q: Will this work in 32 caliber revolvers like 32 h&r and 327 federal magnum?

A: The short answer is yes it will “work” in both cases but please read on.

32 H & R MAGNUM
Maximum C.O.L. = 1.350”
.311” 32 XC 50-GR.’s C.O.L. = 1.350”
When the .311” 50-GR. XC is crimped in the lower groove, only .150” of the bullet is down inside the case compared to a 85-GR. JHP which has .235” down inside the case, therefore Please use a good Roll Crimp on the 50-GR. XC.

Powder Charges Recommendations:
Use Load Data for the 32 H & R MAGNUM for either the 85-GR. JHP or 90-GR. JHP bullets and all Maximum Powder Charges can be safely increased by a ½-Grain Maximum.

327 FEDERAL
Maximum C.O.L. = 1.475”
.311” 32 XC 50-GR.’s C.O.L. = 1.475”
When the .311” 50-GR. XC is crimped in the lower crimp groove, only .150” of the bullet is down inside the case compared to a 85-GR. JHP which has .235” down inside the case, therefore Please use a good Roll Crimp on the 50-GR. XC.

Powder Charge Recommendations:
User Load Data for the 327 FEDERAL for either the 85-GR. JHP or 90-GR. JHP bullets and all Maximum Powder Charges can be safely increased by a ½-Grain Maximum.

Holy crap those are slooow powders for a tiny little cartridge. And the results show it, that 50gr bullet is going no faster than a 71gr. factory load, I got 900fps out of my P32 using Winchester White Box. Bullet shape is nice, but I don't think it will make up for 102 ft/lbs of energy.

and hiker fingered the one in post 3 but apparently didn't report it. so i did.
the apparent "content" in fred's post was copied verbatim from antiquus in post 6, so not as attentive as first appears. yes, they're getting smarter, they look for a place where their particular flavor of canned meat will blend in.

anyway, GOOD JOB!!! fellow spamhunters!
