I was wondering about those "range 1-1/2 miles" warnings sometimes found on .22LR ammo boxes. The Handloads.com calculator only goes to 1000 yards, so I looked at that. It claims .22s are still going almost 500 fps at that distance. Not impressive, but I'd hate to get hit by one.
Are these numbers vaild? Does it matter?

Re: .22 trajectory
3At a 1000 yards, similar to getting hit by a pellet gun. Could raise a nasty welt.
Re: .22 trajectory
4How does one know the bullet (ball?) coefficient for a 40gr. .22lr bullet? Is it a given standard?

Re: .22 trajectory
51000 yards would be like a mortar round. A drop of 243 feet- three times the drop of a 7.62x39 round. And that drift....... Spara's right though, about like a pellet gun at 1000 yards, I think my C02 revolver runs at about 450fps.
