Made in America for the Czar to fight world war 1. Then the Russian revolution, Communists, The Winter war, Continuation war, World War 2, & who knows where else before it came back to America. If things could only talk.
It could well have been issued to American troops involved in the Archangel invasion in 1918 http://www.history.com/this-day-in-hist ... -archangel

While both New England Westinghouse and Remington made the M91 on a Russian contract only a portion of the order was filled before the Revolution. Many remaining in the states were issued to National Guard units and the American soldiers sent to Archangel (for obvious reasons). Yeah, if only those things could talk.

I get her a new Mosin every year since we got married. Started with a original PU sniper, then a hex receiver 91/30, two Chinese type 53, now this one. There are 2 Nagant revolvers in there as well. They're for her, but I like them as well. More of a Mauser guy myself though.

And to think she utterly loathed firearms when we got together.

That is cool. I have two. One I'm going to try and sell at the Chico gun show, a 1942 Finnish m91 B barrel. I have some pics of it in gun porn. I'm keeping my 19th Century Sesty m91, though. Neater history.

I'll have to add some pics of Aisling, my M27. I'm scratching pennies right now for some 200gr Mosin pills to try at the meeting next month.

I have noticed a 1915 M91 at a gun shop, but I am short on spare cash at the moment. So far, I only own 1940's era Mosins (1943 Tula M91/30, 1943 Izhevsk M91/30, and a 1948 Izhevsk M44 carbine).

I don't know when or if I will run into one of them, but I would like to eventually get my hands on an early Soviet M91.

It took me a while to haul him out and get a pic. I was shooting something else and took this opportunity. It was indoors under LED, so there's a bit more bronze in the pic than is actually on the metal. But the metal is a nice brown patina. Very nice. SA stamped on the other side with their number and so on. Un peened crest, which is cool. I've retired this guy. I've not shot him. He has been there and done that enough. I'll get him his own bayo someday.
