So I built this rifle for a friend while in school, started with a barrel and an action, made the stock by hand, threaded and chambered on a lathe, drilled and tapped the whole 9, all metal has been polished and reblued except for the the bolt shroud (safety shroud) and ejector box which I color case hardened. I reprofiled the bottom metal including the trigger guard, and mag well and polished them before rebuke, however the original floor plate is stamped, I cannot for the life of me find a Yugo floor plate milled, so I have two options, polish out the stamped and refinish it, or take the k98 floorplate and finish modifying it to fit. Which involves some mill work. The Polish of the stamped seems like polishing a turd, but I do not know how it would turn out. Opinions, suggestions?
This is where I am now.

3Sounds to me like the natural choice is to polish the original and see how it comes out. If you don’t like it, go the long way with the 98 guard.
