California Democrats Decline To Endorse Another Term For Sen. Dianne Feinstein

1
Before U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein could finish her speech at the California Democratic Party convention Saturday, the music began playing to indicate she had used her allotted time.

She kept talking. The music got louder. "I guess my time is up," Feinstein conceded as what sounded like a 1940s movie score continued playing.

Without missing a beat, supporters of her opponent, state Sen. Kevin de León echoed her statement in a chant: "Your time is up! Your time is up!" — a not-so-subtle reference to Feinstein's 25 years in the U.S. Senate.

Neither party can ignore the will of the people and survive.

The rise of female candidates, minority candidates, and the millennial democratic socialists tells me that the "party" is going to change with or without "party leadership".

Trumpism overtook the Reps like a tidal wave and it has completely changed that party. Change will overtake the Dems. Change happens.

Actually, it's only the so-called moribund self-serving "leadership" that's learned nothing. The base clearly has, and like a sleeping leviathan, has been waking up...and leaving the leadership behind, dragging like an anchor.

Romney didn't get endorsed by the UT Republican Party but he's leading against his Republican opponent by 42 points. Feinstein will get re-elected, the latest Survey USA poll shows she leads Kevin DeLeon by 22 points. Feinstein was president of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors (city/county council) the day Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk were assassinated and she automatically became mayor and that started her career on the big stage.

While the Democratic Party certainly ignored the will of the people, the Republican Party used its mouthpiece, Fok Snooze to bend the people to it's will. I ask, in the grand scheme, which is worse? If the republicans continue down the path they are on, the nation will fall off a cliff from which there is no climbing back up. For the democrats, a change of leadership will be a good thing. For the republicans who are leading their party faithful down the garden path as Donny of Orange goes to Helsinki to appease the master of ceremonies, Vlad Pootin, they are certainly nonplussed about the outcome.

^^^This.

Yesterday the California Democratic Party endorsed Kevin De Leon over Diane Feinstein. Because California uses the "jungle primary" system, De Leon and Feinstein, both Democrats, will face each other in November. Here's the thing, Feinstein received 4 times as many votes as DeLeon did in the primary, so the endorsement means nothing. It really is just a middle finger to the majority of Democratic Party members, by their own leadership.

I believe that the California Party leadership, at least in California, will be left behind this November, although possible not in the way some people may wish.

The jungle primary is not working, get rid of it and try ranked voting. I agree, the option in November is not voting for a US senator since the two candidates on the ballot don't reflect a choice for voters. Feinstein might be the least of the two evils but that's not saying much.

I would call that an embarrassment of riches! Try living in a region where Dems rarely run (or win). You might not complain so much about your politicians. I'd swap Feinstein for either of our senators in a heartbeat.

Unfortunately though, one is an authoritarian on privacy rights and gun rights, while the other has been in a pissing match against the anointed next governor regarding new gun regulations. De Leon takes the edge (barely) for me in that he's lambasted Feinstein for her votes on the increased surveillance of citizens in the last 15 years and that he supports Medicare for all. One most all other issues, they are the same, and both have been entrenched in the political establishment for decades.
