Anyone have any thoughts on a S&W M&P 340

1
Specs:

Smith & Wesson M&P340 .357 mag
Scandium frame
Brand new in box
XS Big Dot front sight

The list price at the gun shop is $739 + shipping (i have to assume).

Looking for a wheel gun conceal carry option...

Opinions appreciated particularly if its a good price.

I was just comparing that to my fave 638. The 638 costs less and weights about 2 oz more. The 638 is 38 spec +p

My question was would it be worth the cost and increased sting to shoot a 357 mag instead of a 38 +P. I thought it would pretty sweet for the first 3 or 4 shots then I'd miss the 638.

Puffing up is no substitute for smarts but it's a common home remedy

How much less would the 638 cost? I guess my only thing would be...I think I would rather have the ability to fire 357 if I wanted to versus just 38SPL.

I was thinking of getting this. I have seen it for as low as $245 new. Yes, its a poly frame, but most everything is these days.

funny part is they call it a " lightweight poly frame" but in the specs, its 1 ounce less than the all steel one.
This is just my opinion, yours may vary and is no less valid.

Congrats on snapping it up!

I have a 360 in .38sp +P, and am *very* happy with it for a pocket gun. .357 out of that would be a bit much for me, but the .38sp +P loads are fine. I carry BB 158gr LSWCHPs which I have clocked out of that gun several times at 1050fps.

Having the option to go to .357 loads is just gravy.
