Re: .38 Safety Hammerless with Pearl Grips

OK, tired of looking around for a Tyler T-grip and a little worried it might crack the Mother-of-Pearl grips scales. I got a slab of 1/2 inch 6061 T6 Aircraft Aluminum and made my own. It is epoxied in place so there won't be any issues with cracking the grips. There is a hole for the mainspring tensioning screw visible towards the bottom of the grip in the second picture.

Linda reports that the grip is excellent and loves the trigger pull, so mission accomplished!

What sort of epoxy did you use, and how'd you prep the metal?
Not wanting to alter the gun further meant that surface prep was limited to de-greasing with acetone. I used a standard high-strength 5-minute epoxy (I forget the brand) to see how well it would hold up and to test the fit and feel, but eventually plan to use JB Weld. I've seen people use JB Weld to hold sights on shotguns, so I figure if it will do that it ought to work here. So far the 'normal' epoxy is holding it quite well; now that it has cured overnight blows from a soft hammer have not shifted or dislodged it.
