Cngratulations, Mr.Pearce- It's a Gun!

The .22 derringer is finished- for now. When I get more gun-blue I'll finish it properly; for now it will remain 'in the white.'
The gun itself is 1/2" thick, but Linda requested that I put 'fat' grips on it, so it is 3/4" across the grips. about 20-1/2 hours into the build at this point- final finish will likely take 3-4 more.

How much barrel liner do you have left? I assume 1.5" is not the length they ship at. Can you cut a chamber in the remainder for the next project?
Yes, there is quite a lot leftover, and I'll ream in new chambers for other projects. It's an embarrassment of riches, really- one of the liners is 30 inches long... BTW, including the chamber the derringer's barrel is 2 inches.

Oh, my! Even if you made 16.5" rifle from one of them, that's a lot of potential handguns!

You are planning a rifle, right? Stretch that derringer forward 15" and back 12" and you could have a custom AR-7. Now, how to make that really interesting? :hmmm:

Where do you like to get wood for your grips? I'm almost tempted to try making grip panels for my Tanfos.

I am planning a rifle, but I bought a 10-22 barrel for $15. The plan is to turn it down a bit and make a rolling-block carbine.
Typically I buy exotic hardwoods at a woodworking store, but these grips are plain old poplar from a hardware store. Treated with light-brown leather dye and an acrylic finish they look pretty nice.

he does a nice .22 rifle with the kind of sandwich construction you are using, might be a source of inspiration
I hadn't seen that- my God it's expensive! Which is a shame; I'd love to pore over it.
