Lok Grips

tl;dr - they're excellent.

The stock grips for a CZ P-01 are awful. They're a squishy rubber which is comfortable enough in the hand, but the tackiness of the rubber grabs on clothing, and the rubber is soft around the edges, so it will peel up from the frame of the gun. Also, they're pretty fat, which makes the long DA trigger pull a little more work than it needs to be.

After looking at the various CZ grip options out there, I decided to go with the Thin Matrix grips from Lok (https://lokgrips.com/cz-gun-grips/cz-75/thin/matrix). The other common choices I saw out there are VZ grips (https://vzgrips.com/) and CZ Custom's aluminum grips (https://czcustom.com/cz-parts-all/grips ... black.html). VZ grips had some reviews mentioning that they didn't fit the frame perfectly, leading to a bit of flex, and I didn't really like their texture choices all that much. CZ grips look nicely made, but they're almost completely devoid of texture, and aluminum grips in cold weather sounds unpleasant.

The Lok grips have everything I was looking for:

- They have enough texture to provide reasonable traction and give sweat somewhere to go, but the texture pattern has the sharp edges rounded off just a bit so it doesn't chew on skin or clothing. I'd probably want something a little more aggressive for a competition pistol, but for a carry gun Matrix is just right IMO.
- They're thermally neutral feeling, as you would expect from G10.
- They fit the frame *precisely*. It's a tight enough fit that they won't easily shake off the frame when the screws aren't in yet, and you might need to reach into the magwell to pop them out from behind.
- They're thin.
- They don't look half bad either.

Thanks for the review, agreed the stock grips are the pits, but too lazy to do the research on replacements. Wonder if Czech cops who carry them everyday end up changing the grips. Noticed you also changed the sights from the stock ones, switched to night sights?

Actually, those are the factory sights. They're glow-in-the-dark, not self-illuminating (tritium). Not ideal, but close enough, so I haven't felt the burning desire to replace them that Glock sights, for instance, inspire. This is a P-01 Omega, which looks like it has different sights than the P-01 non-Omega, so that might be what you're thinking of: https://cz-usa.com/product/cz-p-01-%cf% ... ble-omega/ vs https://cz-usa.com/product/cz-p-01-9mm- ... 4-rd-mags/. The Omega has a few ergonomic cuts in the frame around the trigger guard, and I heard it had a marginally better trigger, so that's why I went with the Omega. I don't plan on swapping out the decocker to safe/fire, but hey I guess versatility is a plus.

My favorite night sights that I've tried so far are the Trijicon HD XR, but those aren't made for CZs, which dampens my enthusiasm for changing them out. I guess you could claim that's an opportunity to try Yet Another Sight Brand...

Ah, I forgot about the Omega, mine is just a P-01. IIRC with the Omega you can change the thumb safety to a decocker, mine just has a decocker which I prefer. Trijicon are great sights. You got me looking and Cajun Gun Works has Dawson Precision Trijicon Night Sights, don't know anything about Dawson Precision. Since you're in a "free state", do you use your P-01 for concealed carry? I have fond memories of MT.

Yes, the P-01 is my concealed carry pistol. I use an HTC Spektre IWB.

I hear good things about Dawson Precision quality, but IMO their sights are angled the wrong way -- I want them angled on the rear, so they won't snag anything on the draw, and flat on the front, so you can use them to rack the slide. Hopefully I'll never need to do a one-handed slide manipulation, but given that as far as I can tell there's basically no downside to having the sight shaped that way, I don't see why more sight manufacturers don't do that.
