I never noticed the weight of a 1911 being that bad. Then again, I can hold a gallon of milk at arms length for a while so that may have something to do with it.
The closest I will probably come to a revolver is a Mare's leg. Not close, really, but older than a 1911 in design.

I have converted from being an Orthodox Wheelgunner to the 1911 Faith, Ruger Synod. (But I still have my ol' Model 66 and a K-22 I scored a week ago.)

I like my 1911 too. But I generally like my guns old and hefty. (Same way my wife likes her men, I believe.)
But I had never owned a revolver until I bought a black powder cap 'n ball job a month ago. I'm looking forward to checking out some of y'all's wheel guns in Portland.

I've never shot a 1911 that didn't jam, stovepipe, or end up out of battery at a certain point. I like how they shoot though, and they can be accurate. I shoot one every two years when re-qualifying for my carry license. In NM you can carry whatever diameter you qualify for or smaller, so I always qualify with a .45.

Here's the test is auto or revolver so I use the 1911 to get Ok'd for carrying both.

This vid is a follow-up to his "I Hate Glocks." Both are hilarious, but side by side, the 1911 rant has some flaws.
Notably, no one but Glock makes Glocks. Anyone that wants to can take a shot at building a 1911 - it's a design, not a brand name. There are some damn find 1911s on the market and some Godawful shit, with lots in between.

This guy is an idiot. How can you take him seriously?
Couldn't watch the whole thing, but it doesn't seem to be so much an ad for an archaic revolver as it is for a modern automatic.
I'll probably buy a 1911 before a revolver. I'd like a Blackhawk, not for practicality. But just to play cowboy. But for me, buying a 1911 is for nostalgic reasons too.

Most of my experience is with Colts, some Kimbers.

I have 2000 rounds through the S and W 1911 I bought last winter, half of it is amateur reloads. Never a stovepipe or FTF. It fits my hand like they were made together and I'm more accurate with it than I ever was with my SigPro. The only thing I dislike is having to wrench it apart but it's getting easier every time I clean it. There is an old fellow who shoots with the group I'm in. He's 90 something. Couldn't weigh a hundred pounds soaking wet. Arms like chicken legs. Shoots the 1911 he was issued in the service one-handed with scary precision. As far as the video goes, even if he liked 1911s, that guy's a douchebag.

They do make double stack, polymer frame 1911s. Yes they are very expensive.
The good ones are expensive because they are made in america by a company that is owned by it's employees and produces some the highest quality 1911's there is.

Absolutely, but it was still worth mentioning that they are VERY expensive. However they are some of the best guns money can buy.
I have a 1911 and love it. I've never experienced any of the problems mentioned in that silly video. Never a stove pipe or FTF or jam of any kind. I prefer single stack semi autos since I have small hands. I just can't get a good grip on the double stack models. I don't see how anybody can really hate the 1911. They are so popular that I think Bud's Gun Shop even has a separate page just for them.

I don't see the point of these "holy wars" regarding gun types. You buy and use what makes sense for you, and to heck with what anybody else thinks. I know a guy who carried a full-size 1911 for years with no problems. Another friend prefers a snubbie revolver in .38 Special. It's your gun, and you are the one who's got to like it.

Nice video, got a few laughs ("I bet you voted for Obama"). 1911's are great, but overrated in my view, given subsequent technology. For example, my favorite full-frame, single-action autoloader is the Browning Hi-Power. Browning took his lessons learned from the 1911 and built a (IMHO) superior pistol. Comfortable, reliable, and accurate. Plus, double-stack mags are great for a service weapon. You can make the argument about .45 vs. 9mm, but as far as the pistol itself goes, I think the Hi-Power is Browning's crowning achievement.
That said, my SP-101/.357 with Crimson Trace grips and loaded with Cor-Bon is downstairs and my Hi-Power is empty in my safe.
