Time for a new Postal Match!!!!

1
Course of Fire and rules have been updated

OK, its time for another LGC postal match. This one should be interesting. Rules are simple:

Rule 1: Use whatever revolver or pistol you want (as long as it has open sights).
Rule 2: Get 50 rounds of whatever ammo you like.
Rule 3: Go print up six copies of The LGCs Bullseye target

Rule 4: Use the following course of fire:

Standard Course of Fire

1. 2+5 5ft Standing, two hand, as rapid as range allows.
2. 5+5 15ft 1 minute, Standing, two hand.
3. 5 15ft 1 minute, Standing, strong hand only.
4. 2+5 25ft 1 minute, Standing two hands
5. 5+5 30ft 2 minutes, 1 kneeling unsupported and 1 standing
6. 6+5 50ft 2 minutes, kneeling supported or prone if range allows

50 rounds,8 minutes shooting - probably 15 minutes total

For each target there are 1 or 2 numbers listed at the front, these indicate your loads. For example, if it says 5+5, you will put 5 rounds in your firearm, and 5 in your magazine, speed loader or whatever - then you fire the 1st 5 as instructed, quickly reload and fire the next 5.

For target #3 you only need 5 rounds.

If your range either prohibits, kneeling, firing at targets closer than 15ft or both, you may choose one of the following alternative courses of fire:

Alternate Course of Fire #1 where kneeling is not permitted:

1. 5+5 5ft Standing, two hand, as rapid as range allows.
2. 5+5 15ft 1 minute, Standing, two hand.
3. 5 15ft 1 minute, Standing, strong hand only.
4. 5+5 25ft 1 minute, Standing two hands
5. 5+5 30ft 2 minutes, Standing two hands
6. 5 50ft 2 minutes, Standing two hands

Alternate Course of Fire #2 where kneeling and shooting at close targets is not permitted:

1. 5+5 15ft Standing, two hand, as rapid as range allows.
2. 5+5 15ft 1 minute, Standing, two hand.
3. 5 15ft 1 minute, Standing, strong hand only.
4. 5+5 25ft 1 minute, Standing two hands
5. 5+5 30ft 2 minutes, Standing two hands
6. 5 50ft 2 minutes, Standing two hands

When you are done, simply add up all the shots that fall within the black rings (in other words, the bullseye, 9 and 8 rings).

Send me an email with the total number of shots that fall within that area. The person with the highest number wins. Remember that I might ask for verification so be sure that you save your targets until after the match is called.

What will you win? Well, you will win a fancy new LGC bumper sticker and one bag of the best beef jerky this country has ever seen:

The LGC has acquired a bunch of it. Some will be auctioned off in Chicago. Bring your money, its worth it :)

If you can't go to Chicago, here is your chance to get some with little effort.

Entries received by 12:01am on June 1st will be accepted.

Ed, I know we talked a little bit about this before. Is this issue common in your neck of the woods? I have never encountered the <5ft issue but non of the indoor ranges I have been to allow kneeling.

Paladin, thoughts?

All of the indoor ranges I've been to in my area have a waist or chest height bench with a wall of some sort that goes to the floor. I don't know why for sure, but my guess is that it has something to do with the range officer's line of sight, or just laziness.

Ok, added updated courses of fire for a couple of different situations. Now go shoot stuff :)

BTW, you may be interested in knowing that this is a test run of the range test that we will use for our new firearms course. I won't tell you what the minimum to pass is yet but having your results will help us refine the course. So please the time to get one box of ammo and test this out.

Damn! I forgot to do this one.

Did anyone enter or can we extend it? I am going to the range this weekend and may shoot it for the hell of it.

It was your idea - go ahead and shoot it. I haven't even checked yet to see if anyone has sent me results.

We need to offer an alternate for Ed's retarded area. :)

We have a winner!!! Once again Paladin wins with a nearly unhuman 45/50. Someone needs to stop this guy.

Paladin, I will just bring your prize to Chicago!

Congrats and thanks to everyone that participated.
