So I got into this argument with someone on youtube (first mistake) and he ends up saying that the minimum wage is a bad thing and that we should repeal it because it's destroying our country. I basically told him off, and left it at that, but as it turns out theres quite a few people that believe this, mostly libertarians.

[rant] So how fucking stupid do you have to be to say that the minimum wage is a bad thing? I mean seriously, I can show you not only on paper theoretically but also in practice what happens when you have a very low or no minimum wage. Labor is a a commodity to be sold under supply and demand considerations, whit no initial investment required to buy, so guess what happens without a minimum wage? YOU GET WAGES THAT ARE FRACTIONS OF CENTS AN HOUR! Oh, what's that, it hurts teenagers getting jobs? have you been out recently, that line of thinking is bullshit and you want to get rid of the only thing keeping our standards of living above that of serfs so that maybe, MAYBE, one or two teenagers can get a part time job.... at pennies an hour if they are lucky? No, I'm sorry the only reason you want to get rid of the minimum wage is because you either run or own a business and think your employees who work their asses off every day for your fucking table scraps are way over paid. In short people like this are the worst of the psychopaths out there and they need to be locked up in an insane asylum so that they can't hurt anyone again. Honestly i'm surprised People like this even exist, but i shouldn't be because humans are stupid fucking evil beings.[/rant]

There's a lot of sociopaths out there. 1 in 10 on Wall Street by some estimates. Don't they need something to do too?

Seriously, doesn't the smart money skirt minimum wage laws by hiring illegal immigrants? Spent the last 10 months in a packaging plant where they often employ illegal immigrants. The locals who've worked there for some time have been getting laid off the last few years then hired back as temps a few months later at about 75% of their original wage sans benefits, and...and...

...the company is still going out of business!
