I was lucky enough to purchase mine for MSRP and picked it up at my local neighborhood FFL on Thursday.

That night I put 150 rounds through it and have also dry fired it about 500 times since then.

I’ve been looking out for some of the issues reported by other reviewers, especially of the early batch in late 2017.

Here are my observations:
  • No failures of any kind so far, but I’ll be getting that round count much higher on Monday, so we’ll see.
  • Excellent trigger break and reset.
  • Gritty/spongy trigger safety that has smoothed out after dry fire.
  • Noticeably flatter shooting than my PPQ, which I shot side by side.
  • It's heavy(which helps the felt-recoil and flip), but it feels balanced.
  • The sharp lower corner of the mag catch will scratch the finish on the mags. I’ve polished and rounded the corner of the catch with a file, and now it’s all good.
  • The stock, .205 height front sight is too tall. It shoots 4-6 inches low at 20yds. I’ve ordered a Dawson Precision .150 front to replace it.
In terms of accessories:
  • I have the 3 magazines which come with the gun, as well as 3 more that I managed to snag online before I actually had the gun in hand. The mags seem very high quality.
  • I have the DSG Arms Alpha Holster - I like the holster quite a bit.
  • I contacted VZ grips about wood grips and they said:
"At this time wood grips are not available for the Hudson. We currently only manufacture the Black grips that come on the gun."

"We are working on other textures and colors and hope to release them soon."
So far I’m quite pleased. I’ll try to post a follow up when I’ve put through a lot more rounds.
I am so jelly. I want one, but I think I’m going to hold back until they do Gen 2. Seems like a perfect USPSA/Steel Challenge gun.

Well, the Sauer & Sohn came home today - cleaned as best I can, disassembled, reassembled, and grips swapped to preserve the originals.

Here is the gun as delivered (she isn't in A1 condition, but perfectly serviceable and not as shabby as she might be)

And with new grips from my favourite grip guy (who amazingly had a set in stock for this little guy!)

I'm glad it's an all steel gun. I've been keeping an eye out for one.

So, apparently, I'm the guy that buys the weird guns. The Husqvarna, the Sauer (more on that later) and now the Enfield No.2 Mk I* (yes, the "*" is required)

Chambered for 38 S&W, double-action only (no trigger spur, no notch to hold it cocked, nada) which gleans it a * in the model no. to denote its status over the DA/SA version. Pull feels like a stout 25 lbs (have no bothered to check yet - but it's beefy)
_SCB2566_resize.jpg
_SCB2567_resize.jpg
Also today, I gave the Sauer its first shooting. Barrel is a tad pitted, but the range owner gave it the all-clear to shoot on his premises, so off we went. Not my best grouping at 7 yards, but I'm blaming it on the pits (target is 8" square for reference). Trigger pull in SA is between 1.5 and 2 pounds - very sweet.

So, I just picked this little thing up from my LGS. It's going to be a Valentine's Day present if you can believe it.
I won't have a range report until after I give it to her. The first time should be something special with the owner, right? ;)

And another, because I have a short refractory period:

Not exactly tack-sharp, but I'd like to see one taken by you under similar circumstances! (Watch the classic movie The Great Escape if you don't recognize that as referential humor.)

Whoa. Nice imaging.

Now I want to swipe the DSLR we just gave my daughter for her birthday and see what it can do in the gun porn department. She's had the first time with it already. ;)

handgun violets

When photobucket went ransom, I lost some pics, so I made a new one of "handgun violets" for when someone lets auto correct fix their terrible search box typing.

It is definitely worth a look. I had the pleasure of shooting this when some of the Oregon gang were at the range the other day. It is sweet. Hardly any muzzle flip- it really acted a lot like Fiddler's compensated Walther in that way - and a very nice trigger. Fiddler had already had the iron sights dialed in and I had no problem hitting steel. (that is, when I took time to aim. I got carried away with the joy of shooting it and ended up shooting faster than I could aim) :)
