That is probably better than a low cost basic rifle, though. Is that a Colt carry handle?

Be careful about the legal ramifications with those detachable mags. I don't think you can just swap out that part, can you?

Its not the legallity of the larger/detachable mags, its the 922 compliance of the imported rifle. In its original C&R state it doesn't fall under 922 but if you swap out a part its no longer C&R.

well thanks for that, i think.
use original mag - all hunky dory.
swap on tapco mag- woohoo! i'm a criminal!
reinstall stock mag - copasetic.
use the other tapco mag - come and get me, coppers!
put the original mag back on - good, law-abiding citizen again.

only a lawyer or politician could think this stuff up.
wtf.

This Browning Safari .243 dates from 1968. I love everything about them except the ventilated recoil pad. I can't understand why Browning used them.

When I first saw it I was hoping it was a 10ga. But this ones a 12 ga 100 year commemorative issue - 1870 to 1970 so it's good enough. My shoulder probably appreciates it not being a 10ga. The 3 in mag ammo kicks good enough.
People kinda freak out seeing it in person with it's 36 in barrel, full choke because it's so long. LOL

It only holds 2 rounds but if your shooting out that far and miss the first shot, your lucky to get a second one off before the bird gets out of range anyway. Wonder it I could shoot skeet with it. hehe
Here's a good write up on the 55. Seen a few sold 12 ga's recently online. No 10ga so far. https://www.marlinforum.com/articles/ki ... del-55.79/

I am so old that I usually only like rifles with wood stocks. i saw one of those Mossbergs at a show yesterday and thought it had the best lines I've ever seen on a bolt action .22. If I still had a beautiful stock blank I'd have my gunsmith duplicate it for a .22 Walther KKJ.

Finally put this together. I ignored all the excellent advice to go with 6.5 Creedmoor when starting from scratch. My first AR-10 is in 308.

I have another (better) scope and mount to try, but wanted to see how this Bushnell works, first. This is just going to be a range toy, I think.

How did you get such great pics?
When I started the University of Wisconsin I was hired by a Professor Emeritus named J. H. Matthews to help him with a 3 volume set of books on firearms identification destined for use by crime labs. He taught me how to do research and photography. Every 2 weeks I was dispatched to return and pick up a batch of guns from the Wisconsin State Crime Lab. First I would photograph them and then shoot a round into a water tank. I would recover the bullet which I would measure and photograph. After a year I was hired by the Crime Lab (while still in school) to work as a photographer and firearms and tool mark technician. Back then we used a 4X5 camera, and eventually switched to Nikon 35 mms. When I started to write for gun magazines and eventually gun books I still used essentially the same set up but with a digital camera. Its quite simple.

The top bulbs are daylight balance as is the much weaker tube in the light box. For rifles I shoot down to the floor using a flat florescent ceiling fixture as a light box. The mistake most folks make is that they use a white background for which their cameras or phones expose. The triangles on the light box are magnets wich are use to hold guns at angles.

Yeah, I think it would be fair to the rest of us if you would volunteer to drive around and take our gun pics for us. Sounds like a nice thing to do for others. :)

Yup, your AR-10 pic is a little fuzzy. Looks pretty neat though.
