But now a new variant is showing up with a modified spike protein....fucking damn!

Yes, seems the breakthrough infections are increasing. The Barnstable County, MASS study quoted from the CDC document was from P-town, showed 74% of those seen at the local hospital with symptoms were already vaccinated.

The Delta Plus variant is spreading and so is the Lamda from Peru, but the Lamda doesn't appear more contagious than the Delta variant.
Additionally, virologist Dr. Jeremy Kamil, from the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, suggested to the BBC that “Delta plus might have a slight advantage at infecting and spreading between people who were previously infected earlier during the pandemic or who have weak or incomplete vaccine immunity.”
There are currently 11 variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that the World Health Organization (WHO)Trusted Source is monitoring.
The delta plus variant is a sublineage of the delta variant, with the only known difference being an additional mutation, K417N, in the virus’ spike protein, the protein that allows it to infect healthy cells.

'You will not wear masks in this church!' Tennessee pastor screams at congregation to 'not get vaccinated'

Pastor Greg Locke of the Global Vision Bible Church in Tennessee ordered his congregation not to get vaccinated or wear masks.

During his Sunday sermon, Locke argued that the Covid-19 delta variant is a hoax and that President Joe Biden lost the election.

"I've been right about all of it!" Locke shouted. "Woo! Yes! Yes! These wicked fools don't win in the end. They don't win in the end. So all this fear bull crap is that. Bull crap! Say amen!"

"I am not apologizing for what I said on this platform last week," he continued. "The delta variant was nonsense then. It is nonsense now. You will not wear masks in this church! You will not wear masks in this church!"

Locke screamed: "Do not get vaccinated! Do not get vaccinated!"

The pastor then insisted that Biden's "days are numbered."

"I've told you the whole time this election was fraudulent!" he preached. "We've got so much proof. The only people that can deny it are crack-smoking, demon-possessed leftists."

In his crusade against vaccines, Locke has previously claimed that the shot contains "aborted fetal tissue."

But members of his own family have told CNN that they disagree with him.

"If you don't want to take a vaccination that's entirely up to you," Locke's cousin Chip Davis said. "But to spread misinformation about it is dead wrong, in my, in my opinion. And it could potentially lead to more loss of life."

German health ministers on Monday unanimously approved a plan to begin administering COVID-19 vaccine booster shots to elderly and at-risk citizens beginning September 1.

The move comes as the contagious delta variant of the coronavirus continues its rapid spread and tests suggest vaccine efficacy fades after time.

Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn and the country's 16 state health ministers also voted to recommend vaccinating all 12-17 year olds, a move that exceeds guidelines set out by the country's vaccine regulator STIKO.

"We have enough vaccine for all. That's why it's good that the states also want to make vaccines easily available to this age group" said Spahn.
The EU medical authority European Medicines Agency (EMA) approved the BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine against COVID-19 for people over the age of 12 this May. It has since approved the Moderna jab for the same age group.
https://www.dw.com/en/germany-health-of ... a-58733149

Tens of millions of Britons are expected to be offered a Pfizer booster jab this autumn as the vaccine has proved to be the most effective against the Delta variant.

The booster scheme, which was announced earlier this year, is set to start in September and should see 23million over-50s, vulnerable Britons and NHS and care home staff offered a third dose.

Extra vaccines would be rolled out in two stages — prioritising those most at risk of Covid, before the programme is extended.

While patients were initially expected to be offered the jab they were originally inoculated with, it is understood all patients will be offered the Pfizer jab as it has proven to be the most effective against the Delta variant.

The Department of Health has yet to confirm the official details of the booster scheme, plans of which were first shared by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) in June.

The JCVI is expected to issue its final advice in regards to the booster scheme in the coming months.
A study published this week also showed that a third dose of the Pfizer vaccine could offer strong protection against the Delta variant.

Research showed that antibody levels increased five-fold among people ages 18 to 55 who were given the booster shot.

The third dose was especially effecting for the elderly, with antibody levels spiking 11-fold among people aged 65 to 85 who had already received the standard two doses.

In the slides published online, the researchers wrote there there is 'estimated potential for up to 100-fold increase in Delta neutralization post-dose three compared to pre-dose three.'

The booster roll-out will coincide with the annual influenza inoculation programme, which health officials said will be vital this winter amid warnings of a difficult flu season.

Florida RNC official calls vaccines the 'Mark of the Beast' that 'Biden Brownshirts' are forcing on Americans

CNN on Monday exposed RNC Committeeman Peter Feaman of Florida for spreading "anti-vaccine rhetoric and misinformation, comparing the Biden administration's vaccine efforts to Nazi-era 'brown shirts,' and twice calling the vaccines 'the mark of the beast,' comparable to a 'false god.'"

Feaman was an elector for Trump in the 2016 and 2020 electoral college.

"'The Biden brown shirts are beginning to show up at private homes questioning vaccine papers,' Feaman wrote on July 20, incorrectly implying government officials would be showing up at people's homes to question their vaccination status, comparing them to the Nazi Party paramilitary wing," CNN reported. "Previously, he supported far-right Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who used the term and faced swift backlash."

Feaman has served on the RNC since 2012 and served as a state committeeman for the Florida Republican Party from 2004 to 2017.

"In addition to peddling medical misinformation, Feaman spread conspiracy theories. Feaman pushed the falsehood that the 2020 election was stolen from former President Donald Trump, peddled Capitol insurrection conspiracies suggesting that the January 6 insurrection was a 'set up to make the Trump folks look bad' and implied the event was a 'false flag' operation carried about by Democrats to seize power," CNN reported.

CNN appeared to also catch Feaman lying about The New York Times Book Review on the cover of one of his books.

"One of the books appears to feature a doctored blurb from The New York Times Book Review. At the top of the front cover of 'Wake Up, America!', a blurb reads: 'Wake Up, America! presents a compelling argument Americans cannot take for granted--that the world of today will not necessarily exist tomorrow.— as seen in The New York Times Book Review.' A similar blurb exists on its Amazon book page," CNN reported. "A spokesperson for the Times confirmed that the publication did not publish a review or cover the title in any way and said they were reviewing the unauthorized use of the Times' name on the book."

One-third of white-tailed deer in the north-eastern United States have antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 — a sign that they have been infected with the virus.

The findings, revealed by an analysis of samples collected after the pandemic began, represent the first detection of widespread exposure to the virus in a population of wild animals, says Arinjay Banerjee, a virologist at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada. The results are reported in a preprint posted on bioRxiv on 29 July1. They have not yet been peer reviewed.

Researchers say the rapid exposure of a large number of animals to the virus is concerning, but that more studies are needed to assess whether the deer can infect each other — and other species — in the wild. “It’s an intriguing observation but still needs to be interpreted with caution,” says Aaron Irving, an infectious-diseases researcher at Zhejiang University in Haining, China.

The crucial questions are “how the virus spread to deer and if it will spread from infected deer to other wildlife or to domestic livestock such as cattle”, says Linda Saif, a virologist at the Ohio State University in Wooster.

White-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) are abundant in North America, especially near urban centres in the eastern United States. Previous laboratory experiments have shown that the deer can become infected with SARS-CoV-2 and transmit the virus to other deer2. In the wild, these deer live in small herds, which means that the virus could spread naturally from an infected animal.

Researchers are concerned about the emergence of new animal ‘reservoirs’ — animal populations that harbour SARS-CoV-2. A pool of infected animals could provide a refuge where the virus could evolve in ways that threaten vaccine efficacy. A reservoir could also allow the virus to spread to other species and back to people, even after the pandemic subsides. Saif has documented other coronaviruses jumping between species. “Similar spillover into wildlife may now be occurring worldwide,” she says.

To assess that risk, Susan Shriner at the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) in Fort Collins, Colorado, and her colleagues tested 385 blood samples collected as part of regular wildlife-surveillance activities between January and March 2021 in four US states — Michigan, Pennsylvania, Illinois and New York. They found that a striking 40% of the samples contained SARS-CoV-2 antibodies, which are produced in response to infection. None of the surveyed deer showed signs of illness.

The researchers’ testing of archived samples also turned up antibodies in 3 samples from early 2020, when SARS-CoV-2 was beginning to circulate in the United States. All told, one-third of the 2020 and 2021 samples had antibodies for the virus.

“Given the percentage of samples in this study that had detectable antibodies, as well as the high numbers of white-tailed deer throughout the United States and their close contact with people, it is likely that deer in other states have also been exposed to the virus,” says a spokesperson for the USDA.

“The data strongly suggest that this deer species was infected with SARS-CoV-2 at some point in time,” Banerjee says. But the researchers did not test the animals for viral RNA, which would be needed to establish whether they are an animal reservoir, he says.

The real mystery, says Banerjee, is how the deer were exposed. It could have been through contact with people, other animals or even contaminated wastewater. “If there is a common source of exposure for the deer, then likely the same source can expose other animals.”

The results stress the importance of surveying deer, as well as their predators and other animals that have close contact with deer, for SARS-CoV-2, the researchers say.

Canada has fined two travellers arriving from the US who, officials say, forged Covid-19 testing and vaccination documents.

Each was fined C$19,720 ($16,000, £11,500) after inspectors at the Toronto airport found their vaccine cards and proof of testing were fake.

It comes as Canada is set to ease travel restrictions on US visitors.

Around the world, nations are grappling with how to re-open their borders to travellers amid a virus surge.

According to a statement from the Public Health Agency of Canada, the two unnamed travellers had entered Canada from the US during the week of 18 July.

The Canada Border Services Agency, which inspects Covid travel documents for authenticity, determined that the duo had faked the documents that they had uploaded to the government's ArriveCAN travel website.
Canada did not identify the travellers or their itineraries. The health agency told Newsweek in a statement that they were Canadian citizens.

Canada loosened requirements for international travellers on 5 July. Anyone entering the country must provide proof of vaccination. The unvaccinated have to submit to multiple tests, and stay for three days in a government-run hotel before quarantining for 14 days.

Canada will begin letting vaccinated Americans enter the country starting on 9 August.

The US border with Canada and Mexico, however, remains closed to foreigners until 21 August.

More and more restaurants and bars in LA and SF are requiring proof of vaccination to get in. Anyone who has been fully vaccinated can get a QR code from CA DPH or they can show their CDC card. I have a QR code e-mail on my phone along with pictures of my CDC card if I'm ever asked for proof.

Kaiser Permanente will make COVID-19 vaccines mandatory for all employees and physicians, as the delta variant drives surging virus cases across the nation, the organization said Monday.

"As the country's largest integrated care delivery system, we feel it is our responsibility to do everything we can to help bring an end to the pandemic, especially in light of the dramatic increase in COVID-19 cases from the highly infectious Delta variant," Greg Adams, chair and chief executive officer for Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and Health Plan, Inc., said in a release.

Kaiser, the country's largest integrated nonprofit health care organization, said as of July 31, 77.8% of Kaiser employees and more than 95% of Permanente Group physicians have been fully vaccinated. There are more than 216,000 employees and more than 23,000 physicians across Kaiser's network.

The health care provider is aiming for Sept. 30, 2021, to fully vaccinate its entire workforce.

Health experts have maintained that most of the newer cases stem from unvaccinated people.

Employees will be given paid administrative time to get the vaccine, and Kaiser said it is working with labor unions on how the vaccine mandate will work.

The San Francisco Department of Public Health and Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital said Tuesday they are allowing patients who received Johnson & Johnson's single-dose Covid-19 vaccine to get a second shot produced by either Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna.

J&J recipients can make a special request to get a "supplemental dose" of an mRNA vaccine, city health officials said in a statement to CNBC, declining to call the second shots "boosters." J&J's vaccine requires only one dose and recipients are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the shot.

On a call with reporters later Tuesday, San Francisco health officials said they are allowing patients to get the extra shots due to the high number of requests they were receiving from residents. They maintained that J&J's vaccine is highly effective against the virus and its variants.

"We have gotten requests based on patients talking to their physicians, and that's why we are allowing the accommodations," said Naveena Bobba, deputy director of health at the San Francisco Department of Public Health.

Health officials said they do not recommend booster shots at this time, aligning with guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

"This move does not represent a change in policy for SFDPH," the public health department said in a statement. "We continue to align with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance and do not recommend a booster shot at this time. We will continue to review any new data and adjust our guidance, if necessary."

The CDC does not currently recommend Americans mix Covid shots in most circumstances, and federal health officials say booster doses of the vaccines are not needed at this time.
Dr. Angela Rasmussen, a virologist at Georgetown University, told CNBC last month that she received a booster shot of Pfizer and BioNTech's Covid-19 vaccine in late June, two months after she got J&J's single dose. She said she was concerned about her level of protection against delta after studies suggested a single dose of a Covid vaccine wasn't adequate.

Since Rasmussen received her booster shot, a new study has suggested the J&J vaccine is much less effective against the delta and lambda variants than against the original virus. The researchers who led the study, which has not yet been peer-reviewed, now say they hope J&J recipients will eventually receive a booster shot of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.

The new research is at odds with a study from J&J, which found the shot is effective against delta, especially against severe disease and hospitalization, even eight months after inoculation. It is likely to reignite the debate of mixing and matching shots in the U.S. as the highly contagious delta variant continues to spread across the U.S.
