Sir, you have my attention. I have even less need for .45-70 in my life than I do for .44 Magnum, but irrational desire is another beast entirely.

awesome. the rear sight does suck. but seriously, 90* cut on the forestock? round it off, give it some curve.
i'm retired. what's your excuse?

Well now. I've seen threaded barrels on leverguns, but not on a trapdoor. That is something.

Not sure I'd ever call it pretty, but practical has a beauty all its own.

K9s - I've had similar thoughts on .40 - it seems to fall in the sweet spot between obscure enough new buyers won't look at it, but common enough to stay in stock. LGS still carries it - ammo and all - but they were asking $599 for the 3-mag PX4 when they last had it in stock.

As more and more police departments drop the .40 there seems to be a whole bunch of Police Turn-ins hitting the market or did until Covid-19 kinda brought everything to a halt.

The rear sight doesn't suck, it's just that the irons wouldn't work with the can on it. So Marlene took a piece of rail and made it work in the rear sight mount area (while still retaining the option to swap back to irons). Then my local smith machined the rail so it'd work with the Venom.

Also, I requested threading and a red dot mount on a firearm that was made in 1887. Aesthetics take a back seat on this.

Found this posted on a Steampunk page.

Yeah, I was able to pick up a couple I wanted without committing to 40. When the new P226 and Beretta were as cheap as a beat up used gun, I can rationalize it. It isn't a bad cartridge, it just isn't my favorite. I was able to pick up some insanely cheap (Hornady) 40 ammo, too, so it seems like a really great deal in hindsight. Not sorry I did it. :)

It may be a long time before I find out. I just don't feel safe going to the range because of covid.
It is not a gun I shoot very much, in fact, the only reason I put the new grips on it was covid boredom. But it is such a stylish gun, I'll never get rid of it.

My Taurus 692 Tracker in .357/.38 and 9mm is finally mine. I've electronically scribbled out the S/Ns on the frame and 9mm cylinder.
No idea when I'll get a chance to actually shoot it...

Also picked up a box of .357 and one of .38 for about $.60/round--I WAS surprised!.
