Gun forum links, sadly these are typical of the reaction every time we hit the news, it's possibly worse because this article is about CA, and they intend to get politically active, and they put their faces and names out there.

Liberal discussion links, also pretty typical (see the comments on some of the liberal blogs, for more "intelligent liberal discussion")

6That poor writer. Stripped of all the typical anti talking points by having to discuss it with someone ideologically further to the left than they were.
The challenge now is to get something like that up in NYT, WaPo, & HuffPo. I casually dropped the LGC existence on Gawker once, was told I was trolling.

7A wonderful article indeed!

8Definitely not how it went. Intelligent writers can have intelligent conversations and we got a very intelligent writer.MudPuppy98 wrote:That poor writer. Stripped of all the typical anti talking points by having to discuss it with someone ideologically further to the left than they were.

9"Liberal" is based on the the Latin root word for freedom. Nice to see some that want that instead of the opposite. Seems like most "liberals" these days are facists.
I don't know why I read article comments.

10You were there, I wasn't, and it may be that this particular writer would have treated a neutral to right wing gun club as fairly, but I wouldn't place any bets on it.Fukshot wrote:Definitely not how it went. There are tons of intelligent people on the left who stop critically thinking when the subject is guns.
Since guns have become a right/left issue it becomes even easier to dismiss any pro-gun comments when they are uttered by someone from the right.
The writer couldn't ideologically dismiss your points, they had to judge them based on their merit.
I think you did a fantastic job and my comment wasn't meant to downplay or demean anything.

12It is a great piece and our chapter pres is a great spokeperson.
The writer (Carla) is an old acquainance and the head political writer. She actually shot with us at Chabot and had a great time.
We are slated to take another reporter soon.

14Well done!!
I'm showing that to both my righty shooting friends and lefty non-shooters to try to broaden their horizons.

15My favorite in this fine piece was,

...requiring lawful gun owners who have already passed background checks to go through the process again for additional purchases is burdensome and unnecessary - "kind of like having to take a driver's test every time you change cars."
