Things have heated up. According to OPB, Ammon Bundy was taken into custody while traveling to a meeting in John Day. KOIN TV has been reporting armed police at the Harney County hospital in Burns and according to live stream on YouTube there was an altercation in which shots were exchanged. Highway between Burns and John Day is closed. Hospital is on lock down.

UPDATE. as of 1830 PDT KATU is reporting Ammon Bundy is in custody.

None of the locals wanted them there. Bundy kept yakking about how he would only recognize the sheriff, but when the sheriff told him to leave he ignored him. This is what Bundy wanted. Notice though that he's alive and not wounded. The press was talking to one of the Bundy Dingbats who is at the refuge. He compared the shooting of a armed middle aged man to the shooting of Tamil Rice. An unarmed twelve year old boy and then made an ominous sounding statement about showing everybody a peaceful resolution. Well he could show how tough he is by moving outside and opening up on the officers on the perimeter. Bet that won't happened.

This farce is long past ending quietly and quickly. Now they need to root out the remains at park HQ. and end it altogether.

I hope that the Feds and the Oregon State Police had cameras running when they moved in to make the arrests. They had to suspect something might happen and in this current political enviroment cops need to protect themselves with documentation. Lots of it. He's been on the record stating he wouldn't go to prison. I'm sure it didn't go down like the Bundy clan is saying.

The FBI and state police staked out a spot along the route to John Day to stop the caravan. At first, both vehicles complied with an order to pull over, but then the lead vehicle took off, the law enforcement official said.

It didn't get very far, hitting a snow bank. Finicum, the official said, jumped out of that vehicle "brandishing a firearm." He was shot and killed.

Ryan Bundy, 43, of Nevada, was also struck by gunfire. He was wounded in the arm, the official added, and was released Tuesday night from a local hospital where he'd been treated for the gunshot wound.

The official did not know who fired the shot or shots that killed Finicum, 54, of Arizona.

I'd like to know how, at this early stage, Ammon managed to talk by phone to Cliven. That part bears some explanation, for me.

I was thinking though, since the conspiracy theories are going to flow like water, we should start one of our own. We should release a statement that the LGC, on good authority from a guy we know heard from a chick he used to date who is now dating a guy in uniform (we won't say which uniform) that he heard it from his buddy who really anchors the bowling league but gets too drunk at the victory parties that Ammon Bundy shot LaVoy Finicum so the whole thing looks like the cops did it. We should get that statement out ASAP.
