Press stories

I have fallen down on curating our press appearances. Please help me find the ones I missed.

This is what I have, I added a couple recent ones, but I am sure I have missed something (things like our press releases being picked up would count). So crowdsourcing this:

An early SFGate article spawned other stories, mostly rehashes of the article, the comments are illuminating:

Thought I had already done that. Fixed, and linked above for reference.

BBC News: Why US liberals are now buying guns too

Lara Smith, national spokesperson for the Liberal Gun Club, says her organisation has seen a "huge" rise in enquiries since November's election and a 10% increase in paid members. Some of the new members are reluctant first-time gun owners, says Smith, concerned that isolated acts of aggression against minorities could escalate into something more violent and that a Trump administration will dismantle key constitutional rights, leading to a "more fascist rule than the US has ever had". The club, which has nine chapters and members in all 50 states, aims to provide a forum for people whose political beliefs do not fit the traditional right-wing gun enthusiast stereotype.

Looks like this article from McClatchy Newspapers is a rehash, they do quote Lara from the BBC article.
http://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/politic ... 97849.html

McClatchy was a small CA newspaper chain that bought additional papers when the Knight-Ridder chain was sold off; so in addition to the Sacramento, Fresno and Modesto Bee newspapers some of the other papers they own: Charlotte Observer (NC), Kansas City Star (MO), Miami Herald (FL), News & Observer (NC), Olympian & The News Tribune (WA), Fort Worth Star-Telegraph (TX) etc.

But as the number of Massachusetts firearm licenses continue to grow and as more people continue to gravitate toward the Weston Shooter’s Women’s Nights, the Liberal Gun Club, and the Pink Pistols, the tendency to view gun owners as a conservative monolith can be dangerously shortsighted. Gardner, who canceled his membership with the NRA years ago, insists that there’s room in the gun debate for compromise, but if the left insists on framing it as a matter of identity politics, they’re only going to alienate more people. “It would be nice if some on the left would be inclusive of many different views and the entirety of the Bill of Rights,” he says. “We make a big deal around the Fourth Amendment, and the First Amendment, and the Fifth Amendment. It’d be nice if we applied the same lens to all of them, not the least of which is the Second Amendment.”

Since its founding in 2007, the Liberal Gun Club, has served as a refuge for a group of people who occupy a lonely no man’s land in the middle of the nation’s gun wars. They wince at fellow liberals who seem to want to ban everything—guns, ammunition, bump stocks—but don’t know the first thing about how guns work. But they’re disgusted by the paranoid, left-baiting rhetoric pumped out by the NRA. Mostly, over the years, they’ve kept to themselves.
