Suspect Spam Accounts

We are currently flooded by spamming accounts that seek to embed links in their posts. What makes them different is their method of editing several days old posts, probably even longer. The posts are not random words, and they actually compose it to fit the theme of the thread. They have tried a couple other tricks: one by pretending to be a new member introducing himself, the other by making a trolling statement. It is obvious that it’s not just an automated bot, there is a person out there actively trying to figure out how to embed his spam here permanently.

I’m creating a list of links to track these accounts. Clicking on the link automatically shows their posts, so we can quickly check them.

When someone says "Hi, I'm Chad from <wherever> . I'm happy to be here" but says nothing about guns or politics, and only has one post, my antennae start quivering that it's either a spammer or a troll.

Maybe worth moving this thread. It's publicly visible, even logged out.

Yes. Contact an admin and move to a members only section.

It’s better to have it visible, warning these bastards that we notice. They’re capable of learning. Once they learn that their spamming here is futile, they’ll stop and move to other less vigilant places.

Doubt it. I suspect they're paid by the link drop, not the link click. If they're paid at all. But they sure are paying closer attention to us than they used to.

You’re right again! LoL.

We do seem to be getting a lot of attention.

sikacz, I doubt we've ever disagreed as much as I sometimes think you think we have. :)

Not involved enough on other forums to say whether we're getting more attention or not. But there has been a shift in style this year. Makes me think that somewhere there's a forum for spam enthusiasts, sharing ideas and techniques. Someone somewhere has probably observed that infiltration techniques are useful.

Meanwhile the intel guys are all "Dudes. Seriously? We sorted all this out back on Usenet and 4chan. There's a way to do this and not get noticed!"

That’s an interesting though, spam enthusiasts. LoL. It’s easy to forget agreements. It’s a shame there’s no like agree buttons! LoL.

the spammer/sponsor connection is interesting... and mysterious. there pretty much HAS to be one or more clearing houses putting the two in contact. but i don't see anyone discussing it, maybe a closely held secret, or maybe i just don't run in those circles. search engine optimization companies, maybe?
if we could capture one, i bet he's spill everything under torture.

He's already about to scare of all the big corporations from the country and I'm not sure how he will affect the agricultural sector as well at a point. I remember that time I went to India and had the chance to meet a few landowners there. They were quite happy with the reforms that their government took to make the land buying and selling much simpler. One of the coolest digital features they had was [link removed] that allowed landowners to have paperwork done very fast. Talk about great leadership.

However, it still depends about the type of online gambling, because in some cases you might actually get arrested for that. Moreover, there are states where you are not allowed to gamble online. However, taking into consideration the pandemic, what do we have to do?! I really like gambling actually, and that is exactly why I am doing that online on the platforms recommended by [link removed]. They are having some amazing reviews for those gambling sites.

This reminded me of an interesting, although far from surprising exposé in the NY Times the other day, about how online slander sites are owned by or have financial relationships with... shocking I know... the companies that charge thousands of dollars to cleanse your online reputation. It was some good reporting.

Which means, ultimately, Putin is behind it and it's part of his plan to disrupt and rob America. After all, NO criminal or corporate enterprise exists in Russia Today that does pay deference and dollars to Putin. He IS "The Boss of All Bosses" and a now Mafia run nation.
