2Figures. The AZ legislature is looking more Nazi every day.

3American gas chambers used cyanide gas by mixing sodium cyanide crystals in sulfuric acid creating hydrogen cyanide gas--same as Zyklon B.
While a circuit court ruled it violated the 8th amendment, the SCOTUS vacated, rather than overturned, the lower court's ruling because California made it only available if the condemned preferred it to lethal injection.
With this SCOTUS, I wouldn't be surprised if the determined that the Spanish Garotte, a slow, excruciating means of execution where larynx is slowly crushed by a tightening iron collar, doesn't violate the 8th.

4The US has used cyanide gas since 1924 when Nevada was the first state with a gas chamber.
Germany and who knows what other dictators around the world have used cyanide gas for genocide. Our "justice system" is imperfect, innocent people have been executed.
https://deathpenaltyinfo.org/executions ... ach-methodFor execution by this method, the condemned person is strapped to a chair in an airtight chamber. Below the chair rests a pail of sulfuric acid. A long stethoscope is typically affixed to the inmate so that a doctor outside the chamber can pronounce death. Once everyone has left the chamber, the room is sealed. The warden then gives a signal to the executioner who flicks a lever that releases crystals of sodium cyanide into the pail. This causes a chemical reaction that releases hydrogen cyanide gas. The prisoner is instructed to breathe deeply to speed up the process.

5I’m totally against the death penalty. It’s absurd, flawed medieval practice in this day and age. It will totally devolve into state- sponsored, political Murder or reign of terror if the authoritarians take power again.
How about justice system reform before we have the state killing its citizens?

6The first use of the gas chamber in the US was in 1924, 9 years before Hitler came to power.highdesert wrote: Sun May 30, 2021 12:32 pm The US has used cyanide gas since 1924 when Nevada was the first state with a gas chamber.https://deathpenaltyinfo.org/executions ... ach-methodFor execution by this method, the condemned person is strapped to a chair in an airtight chamber. BTW, I have opposed the death penalty since before the SCOTUS banned it nearly 50 years ago.
