oiler bottles interest me. they're little microcosms of technological change over time, machined or stamped, plastic or metal.
so i've come across these gems, but don't know what they go with. they're soldered brass, the spout unscrews from the body, and the cap is secured with a chain. apparently they came with a leather pouch. there are two varieties, big (about 3") and small (bout 2"). there are also two types of chains securing the cap, one is stamped sheet, the other is wire.
i've heard a couple of stories re what these go with. maxim machine gun or non-com's 1911. the workmanship looks european to me. anyne know what these are?
anyone recognise these milsurp oil bottles?
