Thanks to my wife's cat I need a new range bag.

1
So i was cleaning up my reloading bench last night, and found my range bag has been pissed in by a worthless orange tabby. I am not even going to try and save it. I am using this time to guilt my wife into letting me buy a nice range bag. I have always just used the cheap Cabelas branded $15 range bag. Most of my shooting is handgun at an indoor range, but I do shoot outdoors 1-2 times a month. Any suggestions?

I've been very happy with the Blackhawk Sportster. The reason I got it is because it has locking zippers, so I can use the side pockets for transporting pistols. Once I got it, I also appreciated that it was beefily built (I think I've loaded it with upwards of 50 lbs of ammo) and fit all of my stuff. If it's not big enough, it has MOLLE webbing so you can add additional pouches.

It does *not* have those individual mag loops in the pockets so that you can have 30 prepped mags ready to go. I didn't want those, but you might.

I also have one of the LGC bags, and it's very nice, but I use this one more.

I have a 5:11 branded range bag http://www.511tactical.com/range-ready-bag.html that I picked up on sale at Palmetto State. It's a great bag if you carry a couple of pistols, lots of magazines, tools, knee pads, cleaning kit, first aid kit and of course ammo.

Optics Planet has a similar bag for less http://www.opticsplanet.com/opmod-exper ... s-bag.html. The nice thing about both range bags is that they have a pull out divided tote that's handy when you're in a stall.

Both bags are big which can be a disadvantage if you only shoot a couple of times a month. I shoot several times a week, so I like to keep all the gun stuff in one bag. I'm thinking about getting a smaller bag for hauling stuff for local matches http://www.opticsplanet.com/opmod-first ... y-bag.html

I got the larger range bag for the same reason you're looking for one, but I was able to salvage the old bag by throwing it into the washing machine with detergent and some borax. Alternatively, I've also saved other cat pissed items by rinsing it, putting baking soda to absorb the smell and leaving it out in the sun for a couple of days.

Have fun shopping!

thanks for the tip, but the effort isn't worth saving a $15 bag. i have already introduced the 2 range bags to my son's diaper pail. No way in hell I am going back after them.

The day my current bag* falls apart (probably never as it's made of heavy duty ballistic nylon), I'll be buying this one:

It's a bit spendy, but it pretty much ticks off every box I'd ever want in terms of storage and portability.

*I'd love to recommend the one I have, but I bought it a gun show some years ago and it had no tags/markings.

I like the GPS gear. Picked up one of their backpack units for about 40% off price ($69+ Shipping) at DVOR sale last year.

It's got plenty of storage and amenities. I've been too lazy to make the transfer from my existing arrangement with GunMate range bag ($15) & Plano Bone Collector Shooters Case @ DVOR ($22)

http://www.amazon.com/Plano-137220-Bone ... xes+137220

I usually cart 3-5 guns to range with enough ammo to keep me occupied for 2-4 hours of leisurely shooting - about once a month on average.
