I've been playing around with itty bitty hammer and chisels lately. I try to do something every few days and I'm already making some progress. I'm still waiting on some magnifiers of suitable strength. I've done most of this stuff with my regular readers. The flowers are numbered in order that I did them. The brass rounds are one inch and the steel squares are half inch.
Re: I'm a chisler!
2I started varying the designs a bit, and today I did a screw, which would probably be perfect if I had done it with better light and magnification (most important for placing the graver at the start of the cut).

3Very nice!

5I'm a little torn between wanting to do stuff like rose and scroll, and feeling like the world is full of that stuff and maybe I should do something that isn't the same as all the other gun engraving that's out there. For now, just lots of practice and learning.

6You have a lot of patience and good eye sight. Very nice work.

8Excellent work.
The screw head is very interesting, it reminds me of early 1900's sewing machine hardware.
Maybe try copying a presidential portrait from a bill sometime, that is what a guy I knew did on custom money clips.

15I like 'em. Portraits next? Perhaps a S&W logo on a grip?

17Very cool! Back when I did manual cartography, I wanted to get into intaglio and learning how to engrave would be the the first step

18Where is that metal work heading to? They would be a beautiful stock or revolver grip inlay for one of your custom projects.

20Your designs are very beautiful, reminiscent of traditional Japanese family crests but modern at the same time.

24Thanks for the nice words about the flowers!
Today I took a few minutes at lunch and engraved my very first actual gun part. Tonight I installed it.
