That’s just wood grain.
Here’s my SP-01 with its Karl Nill walnut grips next to the Challenger grip. The former is a little more golden but still “walnutty.” I would like to duplicate the Nil finish. BLO?
Or maybe I could convince the Klown to paint our Lady of Guadalupe on it.

30Here it is after two coats of BLO. It is hard to get the lighting right and it’s too cold to go outside for sunlight but I like the result. The oil deepened the color and warmed it up a bit. I love the contrast of the lightish walnut against the deep bluing.
