Really! Cool...I'll have to search for this!Marlene wrote: Mon Jun 04, 2018 10:58 pm There’s an excellent dry fire device for Garands that stays in the chamber and shortens the movement necessary to re-cock the hammer.

27I have a ruger mk1 that I bought in 1974, it's been dryfired at least 20,000 times.
Probably had about 100,000 rds minimum put through it, still shoots quite good.

29I can’t afford to clean my Mk III if it means I have to buy that Mk is calling me.
Aren’t the Mk firing pins pinned so they don’t make contact with the breech face? Certainly my Mk III 22/45 is. I have dry fired it uncountable times and there is not any evidence of a mark.

This is clearly a sign from the Flying Spaghetti Monster that I am supposed to go back and buy the 5-1/2" stainless MkII Target that I looked at on Saturday. There's no other possible interpretation.

I thought all the pre-MkIV pistols had an identical firing pin. At least, aftermarket sellers claim the same pin fits all of them. (In the two minutes I was willing to look, I couldn't find out If the MkIV is similar.) I'd have wondered if after MANY dry-firings the hole in the firing pin might peen down enough at the rear to allow the pin to hit the breech face, but from your and eelj's reports it sounds like that pretty much never happens.Aren’t the Mk firing pins pinned so they don’t make contact with the breech face?
