Babylon Berlin

1
A high production value detective series set in Berlin in 1929. A young detective from Cologne comes to Berlin to find a kinky sex film showing then Cologne mayor (and later the first post-War Chancellor) Conrad Adenauer doing, er, kinky but silent sex.
Other plots include Trotskyites vs Stalinists fighting it out in the streets and a whole generation of war vets who stay out all night because their PTSD won’t let them sleep. Historical events are woven in, including a May Day massacre when Weimar cops tore through the streets in armored cars machine gunning suspected Communists down as they peered down from their balconies to see what was happening. Based on a graphic novel. Lots of re-created street scenes and cityscapes. On Netflix.
Ist sehr gut.

Features music from the era as well as stylish modern stuff that oddly works.

I started watching it but it didn't tweak my interest, I'll have to try again. I did like that it was a period piece, the "Golden Twenties" which is our "Roaring Twenties". I did enjoy "Berlin Station" a modern spy drama set in Berlin.

I’ll check out “Berlin Station,” since I do enjoy a good spy story (“good” meaning no stupid car chases, etc).

I was mesmerized by the 1920s paternoster featured in the show. Coolest elevator ever. There are over 260 of them left in Germany, but pretty rare anywhere else.
