The Admiral: Roaring Currents

This was an outstanding movie.

Yi Sun-sin (...April 28, 1545 – December 16, 1598) was a Korean naval commander famed for his victories against the Japanese navy during the Imjin war in the Joseon Dynasty, who became an exemplar of conduct to both the Koreans and Japanese. Despite the fact that he had no prior naval training, Admiral Yi was never defeated at sea, and military historians have placed him on par with Admiral Horatio Nelson as one of the greatest naval commanders in history.

It's on youtube, peer to peer spaces, and Amazon at least. I watched it on my computer monitor 'cause Korean with subtitles.

not all humans do, lurker. some nations allow themselves to be conquered. but yeah...seems to be a trend since Cain and Abel. (Sorry, I tried to conserve caps but failed. ) It does help keep collectors in milsurps, though, so there's that. ;)

it's ok. they have their purpose. a time and place for every thing. use them sparingly ;)

there were 3 15 minute clips from (i assume) the climactic battle in the u-tube listing after the trailer. i watched them and marvelled that the cgi was so awful. probably a better film if you see the whole thing. korea has an interesting history. we had little expedition there in 1871. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_St ... n_to_Korea
i'm retired. what's your excuse?

The beauty of the movie wasn't the CGI, or really even the climactic battle scene. It's definitely not an American shoot-em-up. (Though maybe my calibration is off since I watched "Master and Commander" prior to "The Admiral".)

The 1871 thing...uggg. I'm glad things were calmer when I was there in the mid-1990s. (Ok, that was funny. I'd forgotten that the motto of the unit to which I was assigned was "To keep the morning calm". )
