The prices in the affordable range seem to be between $25 to $150 . The least expensive one that I read about is generally considered finicky and doesn't stay calibrated for many.
I looked at some used scales on eBay but I wonder about the reliability of a scale with a history of use (or abuse) unknown to me.
Re: Reliable, affordable, balance scale?
2The Lee is fussy. The RCBS 500/Ohler 505 is pretty stable. If you can find an old RCBS or Ohler 10-10 that’s complete, it’s an excellent scale.
Scales don’t really wear out, if they’re not damaged.

3I have been reloading for 60 years. I switched to an inexpensive electronic scale which came with a marked weight to check it and gave away my old Ohaus which I don't miss at all.

5Agree on the 5-0-5 being good.
In a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich the chicken and cow are involved while the pig is committed.

Re: Reliable, affordable, balance scale?
8Here's a question.
I'm thinking about upgrading my teeny digital scale, a Frankfort Arsenal that was $25.00 very well spent.
I don't have room for a full scale charge dispenser, that will have to wait for a bigger loading bench.
The question is. Digital or Mechanical? I'm looking at the RCBS M500 or the RCBS Rangemaster 2000.
Thanks for the input...

9I've always been a fan of ohaus scales, ever since I was 18. https://archive.theweedblog.com/does-an ... marijuana/Marlene wrote:We stole them to weigh weed when I was in high school a few years later.lurker wrote:i wonder what happened to all those steel triple beams i used all thru high school science classes? shipped to asia most likely, melted down and reincarnated as harbor freight something or other.

Re: Reliable, affordable, balance scale?
11It's never too late to self medicate, I had to quit in 85 because of my job, been away from it for so long I just can't get back into it. But to keep it on topic Ohaus scales are great and I believe RCBS scales are still made by them.lurker wrote:people who started smoking pot in the early 90s crack me up. that's when i quit smoking pot. maybe i shouldn't have, my cardiovascular system might be in better shape.
Re: Reliable, affordable, balance scale?
12Why not get a Lee Safety Scale? it's certainly affordable, same price as the Frankford Arsenal, and I can say my Lee is more precise and accurate than my Frankford Arsenal. viewtopic.php?f=29&t=46476drigeba wrote:Here's a question.
