The WWII commemorative ammo announced at the last SHOT Show is starting to ship. Midway has the .45 ACP in stock. The M2 ball .30-06 is marked 'soon'. It's listed on the Palmetto State Armory website but so far no stock. The 12 gauge and .30 carbine is due next year.

TFB had this to offer;

Winchester’s WWII Victory Series is a NEW Throwback Ammunition

<snip>
Pretty neat. I'll have to track down at least the 12ga. and 45ACP.

Aw, I have to order a couple of boxes of each just for the boxes.

I want to see it locally. Will buy. As you know, now it's illegal to get ammo mailed to the home w/o some kind of license in California, so must find in stores.

It's pretty!

The headstamp is: W-W 45 AUTO M1911

My father-in-law was in Italy during WWII - I know what he's getting for Christmas. 8-)

Yup! My order just arrived a few minutes ago. I have no idea if I'm going to even shoot this, or if I'll just leave it sitting around as a collector's item.

I had to Google 'ball ammunition'.

"The term "ball ammunition" is a military term that refers to a solid, inert projectile (lead or lead/steel). "Full metal jacket" describes the thin copper jacket covering of the projectile."

In other words, ball ammunition is standard ammunition, not a tracer, hollow point, armor piercing, etc.

Sure, there's nothing special about this ammo, really, except that it comes in a decorative wooden box. But to that's as good as Malibu Stacy having a new hat!

Sweet!

I don't even have a .45, so these will add to my clutter and/or gift supply. When the .30-06/M2 ball finally hits the market, though, I'll have a couple of wooden boxes to store gun parts in. :lol:

The price is down about $2 at Midway - $20 and change for a box of 50. I wonder if Winchester is going to supply different vendors in turn?

Looks like it's gone at Midway. Natchez and a couple of other ammo vendors have it in stock. No sign of it at PSA yet. No sign of the .30-06 yet either.

The .30-06 doesn't come out until November, with other calibers following next year.
Winchester will release three more retro WWII-era combat cartridges in the Victory Series, .30-06, .30 Carbine and 12-gauge, the latter loaded in brass hulls. The .30-06 reproduces M2 Ball, suitable and safe for the M1 Garand’s semi-auto gas system, and will be out in November of this year. Next follows the .30 Carbine, which TM 43-0001-27 labels, “Cartridge, Caliber .30, Carbine, Ball, M1,” in June, 2019. Bringing up the rear in November next year is, “Cartridge, 12 Gage, Shotgun, No. M19.”

Cool Eris - thanks! I know what my son's getting for Christmas. :lol:

I brought a box of the .45 ACP to my father in law last week. At 92, he's slowing down a bit and some memories are more clear than others, but he still has stories from his time in Italy near the end of WWII. I could tell he wasn't completely sure what was going to be inside the wooden box, but his eyes lit up when he lifted a fat round of .45 out of the foam. Nice job, Winchester.
